I got this for possible future uses in rock climbing / hauling. If combined with other Petzl tools such as Tibloc, you’re able to 3 to 1 hauling. But I hope never to be in a position to need that.

Wonderful progress capture with a way to lock the teeth back and use it as a pully. I enjoy using it for top rope soloing. Little if any resistance yet instant grab. Plus it's petzle so "it super good enough"

Has caught my falls. I doubt I've put anywhere near 4kN of force since it grips immediately. I wish I could use larger than 11mm ropes with it.

This is the classic progress capture device for crevasse rescue and alpine climbing; light, efficient and small it is always on my harness in the Alps.

Ottima realizzazione e materiali al top, da standard Petzl oramai. Fa il suo lavoro, è piccola e leggera e pratico il disinserimento del fermo per usarla come carrucola normale.Per progressione in ghiacciaio la trovo fondamentale, in accoppiata con una longe da 120, una carrucola normale, due moschettoni HMS e un tibloc hai fatto il kit per paranco da recupero su ghiacciaio, che io trovo più intuitivo e che richiede meno sforzo del classico paranco con moschettoni, marchard e corda o con mezzo poldo; sono dell'idea che nelle situazioni di emergenza, bisogna semplificarsi la vita ed essere rapidi.Costo altino se non si va spesso in ghiacciaio, ma in linea con la qualità e la funzionalità del prodotto.

I have two pro-traxions and one micro. They are similar in how they work except the micro traxion requires you to feed the rope through the sheave vs simply opening the cheek plate on the pro-traxion which saves time and energy. The micro is better for smaller ropes as well, my 11 mm rubs slightly which can suck if you're hauling loads with it. Over-all this is a space saver for the minimalist. Would be great for top rope soloing. Both models have a self-jamming mechanism which will hold your load or stop your fall. I wouldn't make a habit out of it, but in a pinch they can work well as an ascending device too.

What everyone else said. This progress capture pulley is bomber, easy to use, lightweight, and practical.... side note: if you're testing it at home by using it as an anchor pulley to hoist yourself, ... don't forget that you'll need some way to unload the device at the top. Quite embarassing being stuck on the ceiling.... so I've, uh, heard.
