I like that this pulley comes from a name brand with appropriate documentation. Most of the climbing and mountaineering gear on Amazon that doesn't come from noteable manufacturers has dubious certification and provenance. I will not put my life on the line for some cheap knock off product. Name brands from a reputable company only.

If you're considering this pulley know that this is a plastic "emergency" pulley, likely good for one use and one use only. I don't think I would've purchased this pulley had I known the pulley was so cheap. For a few dollars more, on Amazon, you can find more durable pulleys such as one one offered by Newdoar (spelling?).This will not be a repeat purchase.

I don't really use this for climbing. I use it for securing hammocks and for a few other little odds and ends uses around the house and campsite. For what I use it for it works great. Combine two of them and you have a good pulley system that can help you move or lift heavy objects. Just stay within the weight limits of the pulley.

When I first purchased these, I was skeptical about the plastic wheel. Thus far I've used them to recover a 350lb Dual-sport bike that was being dragged up a hillside. That means the weight was closer to about 500lbs. These pulled had no issues at all. They are small, lightweight and strong.

Part of my job is pulling wire in buildings. As a side note, the only thing worse than pulling cable is a school is pulling cable in a hospital. So many corners and floors. So what do you do when you have to pull a wire, by yourself, around a corner or two or three, and then down to the floor below? Use a pulley!Pro's:lightfairly pricedthe sides rotate independently so you can remove it once the cable is in placeCon's:your company probably won't buy it for you until you can prove it's efficacythe bearings inside won't last foreverthe diameter is limited to two low voltage cables; cat5, 22/3pr, 18/4, and so on...The Bottom Line:I have no idea if you can use this for climbing but you can certainly use it to pull wire.

I bought this to help me play "coast guard Alaska" with my children. Hauling them up and down on a rope is much easier with this pulley.I've not used it in a technical setting or with a great load but it appears well made and durable.

This is the absolute LIGHTEST pulley I could find that was strong enough AND was NOT too expensive, WIN!!! I'm not really into climbing, though I do need to on occasion, but I do have several uses planned for this! First, While I prefer a bivy, I plan to use a hammock more often, but I intend to hoist it/myself at least 10 feet off the ground (Not just two or three). That means I may have to get the line up to 15 feet up the trees. These should make it MUCH easier! Obviously I have the option for more intended uses like hoisting gear or others or with two of these you can improvise a travailing pulley.

Used this to help hang the bear bag in bwca. It's super easy to clip onto the rope and stong and smooth. Little pricey but it was worth it to me to have something corrosion resistant that didn't require oiling and extra care in the backcountry, and is so light.
