Expensive? Yeah, but well worth it, and 1: You will never be THIS in-tune, and 2: You will never need another clip-on tuner.I've always been leary of strobe tuners, but then I never realized what a difference a *proper* strobe tuner would make. Wayyyy worth the tiny bit of time it takes to learn to use it. AND, even if the strobe isn't perfectly still, you'll still be more in-tune then with anything else. And not to mention all the options! (And no more damn coin batteries!) Do yourself a favor. Seriously.

OMG I have had so many tuners over the years and this one is my fav by far. I am done with those ones that get snarky and break or they become sticky, and decay, I kid you not, but this one has almost everything I need and it is reliable and strong I shit it in the case and it got flattened and did not break. I like the guitar sweetener setting, yes it makes for a more broadly tuned state as I move through lots of keys and I do not play open tunings much. I wish this had true temperament tuning but that is just me, but most importantly I find of all the annoying flashing strobing systems this one is the best balance of irritating and usability of getting at that note.

TL;DR: spendy, but worthy it.Works great, right out the box. Big bright display, easy to read even without my reading glasses, LOL. Responds instantly. The strobe pattern is high definition and moves smoothly. I'm pretty picky about tuners, never quite satisfied with many others I've used over the years, and resorted to playing natural harmonics to improve their speed and accuracy. This strobe tuner gets the job done with open strings. When it locks in on the open string, the harmonics are perfectly in tune as well. And it's great for checking intonation at every fret. Especially the first fret when checking, adjusting the nut. It also works great on bass, and fantastic for practicing fretless bass. It's already helping my intonation, and my ear.

This little tuner is no joke. The first thing I notice is the pinpoint accuracy. My guitar has never sounded this good. Second I played around with the sweetened tuning settings, which I dunno, that's a bit over my head but it sounded good. I stick to standard though because I'm not sophistocated enough to hear the difference yet. Finally after using it every day for a few MONTHS, I noticed how amazing the rechargable battery is. I haven't had to charge it. It's still on 2 of 3 bars. This tuner is very high quality in every aspect I can determine. Every guitar player needs one. It puts those litte round ones to shame.

I’ve used various types of tuners and the Peterson is easily the best headstock tuner I’ve ever used. Highly accurate, great visibility in various lighting situations, and it articulates in a ton of ways so it can be moved to avoid direct sunlight. I don’t use the alternate tuning capabilities, but the one thing I really like is to be able to charge it up. No more need for extra batteries. That said, the battery lasts a really long time. It lasted me at least two gigs before it even got close to needing a charge.

If you've only used (almost) any other type of digital tuner, however fancy and expensive, you will have encountered a delay that makes it difficult to really fine tune the note. This delay is inherent in every single DAC in every digital device, because those devices directly measure the frequency of the tone and convert that to digital output, which will always have a minimal delay because it requires CPU clocks. What this does is use the audio input to directly drive the frequency of the screen refresh rate, which requires no conversion. The speed your string is buzzing is also the speed the display is refreshing. The display is overlaid on a digitized, lined disc that rotates at a constant speed, regardless of the input frequency. The rotation is set so that when the refresh rate/input/instrument rate matches the target frequency, the line appears to stand still. The further away from the target tone, the faster the line will begin to rotate in one direction or the other, indicating if you're too high or too low.The effect is instantaneous response to tuning changes in your instrument. I watched the marketing promos and was super skeptical but this is the real deal. I wish I had bought one of these years ago, I'd have saved probably hours of frustrating tuning ping-pong. I got the cheaper HD version first just to test and have now resolved to get an HDC per guitar so I can just leave them attached.

It spins to the left, it spins to the right, but it never (for me anyway) hits a stable still point. And the spinning doesn’t change speed unless the string is way out of tune, so it kind of jumps back and forth making it hard to really nail the right frequency and take advantage of the extra accuracy of the strobe technology. I sent it back.

Love it. Has sweeteners for acoustic and electric. Was the only tuner that could get my Gretsch perfectly tuned. I also bought the Peterson Strobo Stomp HD which is a perfect companion for this in gigs where the tuner is always at your feet.
