came 3 days late and didn't work. I`ve installed about 300 of these units and all work well. But this one looked like box was opened..I can`t answer that honestly id it was. I ordered a new one from napa to finish car, I thought I would try a mail order company on them.. didn`t work.

Should note the instructions (and included parts) suggest a minimum distance from the rotor but the construction of the pickup plate does not allow for adjustments. A hole is drilled in the plate to house a post on the distributor. There is no adjustment and it is a touch greater than the 0.030 inch plastic plate included. Engine fired and was easily timed. Time will tell if there are issues with the device, but others I've met have had similar devices for many decades without issue.Driven less than 80 miles and the ignition stopped working (no fire to any plugs). Spent less than 30 minutes putting original points/condenser back in to get car running. Trying to contact Pertronix regarding any troubleshooting to determine what the issue may be and also if there is any recourse on replacement if possible. Not willing to reduce the star value yet as I am unsure if I did something wrong or just got a bad part, or if there is an inherent issue that should be considered (bad batch of Hall Effect sensors Pertronix got and they are unwilling to correct, type of thing). When possible I will also follow the troubleshooting information from this guy....[...] (if they let this link go in)OK. Driven almost 80 miles and the ignition module died suddenly. Happened on the last day of the warranty and have thus far been unable to get the return policy from Amazon cleared. Pertronix says it must be returned through Amazon. Working with credit card currently to get problem(s) resolved and will post back one last time once clarification is made that no one will work with getting this product replaced or at least offer a reasonable reason why it died on its second trip out of the garage. Good luck with your purchase, should you make it.Just received replacement from Amazon (Thank you!). I am in contact with Pertronix as well to ensure my 4 cylinder positive ground car with the new Pertronix 40511 3-Ohm coil does not need a ballast resistor AND that I have done what I can to ensure the connections are correct. I will post additional follow-ups as I get information from Pertronix. I originally gave this 5 stars and reduced to 2 stars due to issues with returning product. Amazon has been FANTASTIC in resolving the replacement issue. I am looking forward to getting (my son to put) this into the car this weekend (or next), but will be unable to drive anywhere for about 3 weeks. I'll adjust the star rating for the product when I've put another 100 miles or so on the car for a final note. I really would like this to work as while it was electronic ignition, the car ran beautifully...hasn't run that well in decades (drove it to high school) and it's getting more difficult to find GOOD points.
