The Wisconsin VF4D engine has what is called a flat crankshaft which requires an odd-fire cam lobe in the distributor. This cam lobe has a larger unique shape and the lobes are not spaced at 90 degree intervals. The mounting plate for the 1545 ignitor is also incorrect for this application and the magnet ring that should slide over the cam lobe is too small. However, Pertronix is what I consider to be the premier points & condenser replacement unit on the market, thus the 5 star rating despite the fitment error.

had a boat that a previous owner had modded the distributor with this electronic ignition module. During maintenance on the boat, somehow shorted the one had out. Checked part number and ordered this and direct fit. Ran the boat 2 seasons and no issues. Just now getting the review written. Beware tho, does not take to much to blow these out! I have since added a 5amp fuse wired to the module for protection.

3 years ago I replace the point set in my old Onan standby emergency generator with this unit. I saw an immediate Improvement in starting time and it ran for smoother. About a year later the generator would not start and it was traced to the failure of this electronic part. I replaced it and it ran perfectly for another year at which time it again failed. I replaced it again and this time I am going to use one of their coils instead of what should be a perfectly adequate coil from an auto parts store. I guess we'll see in another year.

Item was listed as NEW and I received a USED item with grease all over it, scoring on all of the bolt holes(previously installed apparently), chaffing of the wires, AND the wires are cut down to 3" long with no grommet there anymore!!
