Really happy with these chaps for the price! They look nice and fit my extra wide and tall calves well. Only missed 5 stars because after one wear they bled some black dye on my breeches.

These are really nice chaps if you like suede chaps. Workmanship is great, zippers work well and are sturdy, and they fit my long 17-18' calves with winter breeches on no problem and the height is perfect, comes right to the crease in the back of my knee. Nice packaging. Very good value for money.,

Been using half chaps for many yrs. I ride hard - several horses a day: lots of canter & gallop work, advanced trails/obstacles as well as arena. Have used most of the top brands - for all around riding these have been superior - really high quality suede thick w good nap, a double thickness foot strap that's actually tight & keeps my half chaps down, fits really well around my Ariat terrains and a zipper that's tough & works so I can get them on. I tried several others but these had everything I wanted & need, at half the price. I expect these to last numerous yrs.

They are ok. I have had them less than a year and the inside patch on one of them has come halfway off. I ride multiple horses a day so I’ll probably need to suck it up and buy the more expensive leather ones that can take more abuse. They also tend to move around on my leg a lot. They are the right size but don’t stay up as well as they should. I have slender calves so these are a bit too wide.

Great half-chaps for the money, and one of the only brands that carries sizes that suit wider calves without being excessively tall. I was getting to the point where I thought I'd need to get custom half-chaps due to the height issue. These have a great amount of "stretch" in them, I'd say you could get away with a 1/4"-1/2" discrepancy in regard to calf width. No issues with durability after a month of use. They break in nicely and are elegant enough for English lessons-- they contour well to the leg, and the snap near the heel is sturdy and looks nice. My only complaint is that the larger calf sizes are quite tall, but again, still way better sizing than plenty of more expensive brands.

Got back into riding after an 18 year hiatus; pants still fit (barely), but my beautiful, expensive, custom tailored field boots certainly did not. I'm not going to be showing anymore, just riding for fun, so I decided to go with some paddock boots and these half chaps instead of spending a ton on new tall boots. GREAT decision. These are comfy and durable, great for occasional riding or regular schooling. I wipe them off with a wet towel and let them dry, and they're good for another ride. I've worn while bathing the horse too and gotten them very wet. No damage (as you might expect from a suede product) and they dry easily.I have muscular calves, about 14.5" and I got the mediums based on review recommendations. Glad I did. A large would have been too loose even over breeches and tall socks.

i really like these half chaps! They feel substantial and fit well. The zipper is heavy duty. I have a 14 1/2" calf and 17 1/2 fm floor to back of knee. I ordered a MT and it fit perfectly. The best part about these half chaps is the ribbed gore panel that fits across the top of the boot, and the reinforced elastic strap across the bottom of the boot. I've had a hard time finding a half chap with the ribbed gore, but I feel it really helps shape the chap to the paddock boot. I've ridden in them a couple of times and have been very pleased. Haven't washed them yet, I hope they hold up as well as my old Riding Sport half chaps (no longer made), I've had those for almost 16 years and still love them, they are just worn thin as paper now!

ONLY HALF CHAPS I HAVE NEVER HAD TO FIGHT TO ZIP UP. I have huge calves. My proper riding boots I had to get made to order because absolutely none of the major manufacturers stock a boot that is wide enough to accommodate my calves - that includes all of the ones that offer what is laughingly called a "wide" calf. I do have a custom-made pair of dressage boots, but I don't always want to mess with those, especially on days when I'm not sure if I'm going to be riding or not due to crowding in the ring, nutty behavior from my horse, transient lameness, too busy, whatever. If I'm not sure about the conditions, I'd rather do my grooming and bonding in a pair of comfy paddock boots, and then zip on a pair of half-chaps. I have had half-chaps from several different manufacturers, usually the kind that have the stretchy panel in the back because...really wide calves. These half-chaps are SERIOUSLY wide at the upper end of the sizes. How wide are they? Even with my monster calves, I ordered the 2x, and seriously thought about sending them back because they were TOO LOOSE. It was a real First for me, I tell you. Other than the generous sizing, the quality is very typical for a pair of suede half-chaps with the stretchy panel. It's an extremely standard sort of item, just the kind of thing you find in any decent tack shop, only sized for people with really muscular calves.

We purchased these in the 3XL, and they fit my husband perfectly. We've had a difficult time finding half chaps in larger sizes, since most companies seem to think the only people who ride have 14" diameter calves.. Yeah...no. So we were pleasantly surprised to find that these were both tall enough and wide enough to go on easily over jeans or breeches and zip up over paddock boots without a struggle. They stay in place nicely during riding, and the leather is heavy enough to wear well over time. all in all, I'd recommend these for anyone who needs a decent quality half chap for schooling or trail riding.(The height for the 2XL and 3XL is not 16 1/2" as stated on the size chart, it's actually more like 18-18 1/2", so, yes, these may be too tall for some people.)

These are the only half chaps I've found that fit my big calves. They zip up very easily and seem pretty well made. The ankle is a little big, but for the price, I am ok with this. These aren't fancy leather half-chaps and aren't suitable for any kind of show environment, but they will be perfect for every day schooling. The suede fabric is thick and there is extra reinforcement on the inside of the calf. I'm happy with them, especially for the excellent price!
