I received my chaps about two days earlier than I anticipated, so I was eager to try them on for fit before this cold weather came into town (Jan 2025, Houston, Friday before the Inauguration). After initial try on, I ended up using the included belt extension piece to give me additional inches of length on the belt (the further into the belt buckle holes for more adjustability). After getting that extension laced into the middle back of the belt, I tried them on for the first time.Since my inseam is not that of a six foot man, I needed several inches cut off of them for my inseam length to be correct. That took about 10 minutes for me to "adjust" them with the help of a razor blade, cutting surface and a straight edge. After I got them trimmed, I put them on to see if any more needed to come off ... fortunately, the answer to that was a resounding nope. Got it right the first time. I trimmed it just a touch long so it will cover the pant leg opening and come to rest upon my boot top.Materially, the zippers used are really heavy duty. I think that there is some cumbersome entry after I begin the zip (it is probably me, as this is the first time I have ever attempted to wear chaps) to allow me to get my foot through the top of each leg. After I stood up, I found the zipper was easily moved along the back of my leg to its end point then the snaps were connected for a nice fit around my thighs/upper calves.Just trying them on, I noticed that there was a little weight to them, but not as much as I anticipated, based on the feel of my heavy leather riding jacket. My jacket is much heavier in the thickness of the leather to protect my torso from the cold, direct winds while riding, but since the chaps are to keep the wind off of my legs, I believe this thickness of leather will be more than enough to aid in keeping my legs warm during winter/fall rides. We have some colder weather coming in tomorrow, so I shall be able to put them to the test on their effectiveness.I know from experience that leather clothing will take on a "patina" and become easier to move as the hide gets movement from wearing as well as exposure to the elements during rides. Cleanings with leather soaps and mink oil will add to that suppleness. The finish seems to be one that will age gracefully in the years to come.

The leather is a bit thin, but there nice looking. Good for summer protection, but ok for winter. Also, the size chart they have is inaccurate. My thighs measured at 31”, and the 2XL was still too small and I couldn’t get my hand into the side pockets. The 4XL fit my thighs properly. All in all, after ordering three pairs, I found my size. Good experience overall.

These aren't the top of the line, but they're a great deal for the price. One leg seems a little tighter than the other when I'm putting them on, but other than that I haven't found anything to complain about. They were stiff when new, but softened up quickly with some road time.

These Event Biker Leather Men's Buffalo Split Leather Plain Lined Chaps are just what they say, EVENT type. meaning thinner cheaper (stuff you give away as a prize. The waist was way bigger than expected, I needed to ass adjustment holes in them to tighten them up, and the thighs were close to being too tight. they are already starting to tear at at least one seam. But being I got these from Amazon Warehouse deals for about 1/3 of the list price. So..... I got what I paid for.
