I had difficulty working with this item, while changing my motorcycle 6 piston brakes. The screw was too small, I changed it to a longer screw.

I had previously bought a caliper press tool which had a couple of parts that were fiddly to align and used a screw to push against the caliper to push back the piston. It works, but is not easy, and also requires quite a bit of force to turn the screw. I then came across this tool via a brake supply site - unfortunately the Amazon product didn't appear when I bought the original tool. I ordered this and my recent brake job on an SUV with twin pot calipers was so easy. This tool was effortless to use - it just fits inside the caliper, you crank it and the pistons retract. Well worth the money!

I liked the simple universal design because even though it may not be as fast or easy to use as a specific tool in a specific application, I'm not a professional so an extra minute on this job isn't a big deal and I didn't want a big, complicated, more expensive set of adapters for a brake caliper compression set. I wanted a small tool that I could use for the six more brake jobs I'll probably do in my life. I particularly liked the small size of this tool because it seemed like it'd be a better fit for my motorcycle brake calipers which I change more frequently. I used this tool to compress the calipers when replacing the front and rear brakes on my 4Runner, using the old pads as spacers, and it's already paid for itself twice. I just ordered the parts to replace the front brakes on my wife's RAV4, and I'll be replacing the motorcycle brakes next spring.Despite being a small and simple tool it's far from flimsy. The arms are heavy duty and the finish is a thick chrome plating that reminded me of durable tools from the 1950s.I wish the rod that's turned to open and close the tool was an inch longer for more leverage but that's a minor inconvenience that's not worth knocking a star off the rating. It seemed inconsistent with the rest of the tool's comfortable curved surfaces. Maybe I'll 3D print slip on pads to make the skinny rods more ergonomic.

I've been using this tool while working on VWs. The steel wire is very thick so the hooks can hold up a lot of weight.

J'avais pas le goût d'être broche à foin comme on dit. Pourquoi risquer un bris inutile de la canalisation des freins quand ceci fait parfaitement la job. Comment un objet aussi simpliste pourrait ne pas être fiable ?
