Pentra-Bark works because: All woody plants have microscopic openings in the exterior protective bark periderm layer called lenticels, these lenticels are functionally used for plant transpiration and pressure regulation. Lenticels connect directly to the plant’s annual spiral openings or vascular metabolic transport system contained in the plant’s cambial phelloderm. When Pentra-Bark is applied to the woody bark periderm in combination with systemic pesticides, it opens the lenticels and enables movement through the lenticels into the plant’s vascular transport system. Big bottle leaks after a 1 month of use. Not really sealed well, but main thing is the bottle bottom. I live in AZ, but the area it is stored is insulated and AC cooled to 72 degrees this summer.

If you have really tough hard to kill plant material, this makes those tough plants killable. I have used this on huge 45 year old Algerian ivy on a fence by a railroad track, and it killed it. It helped the weed killer soak into both the leaves, the brown vines, and the many 4 inch thick woody trunk like branches.I just used it on the Himalayan Blackberries and you can see by the photos it is starting to die. It should be a vibrant green. It will be dormant in just over 2 months.I know I could spray directly onto the bark of a tree or the outside of a palm and I could kill it.I mixed the newer Round Up formula along with Round Up with Glyphosate, and some blue marking dye. Then I added Penta Bark. I used everything according to instructions.
