So far so good, I’ve been using it for several months regularly. I was worried about the plastic housing not holding up, but short of accidentally stepping on it when it’s laying around or some other careless mishap, it seems like it will hold up just fine. I use the Pedro’s Oranj Peelz degreaser and it gets my chain super clean. You can spend a lot more for the Park tool version chain cleaner, and it might be sturdier, but the Chain Pig works just fine for me.

Of course removing your chain completely, and then soaking it in proper bike degreaser is the best solution, but if your going all out, then you should also clean the whole drive train, remove and soak the casettee ect.That's not something I always want or need to do. This is next best thing. Quick, easy, lazy, uses only 1oz of fluid. Takes only a few minutes of time and minimal effort, no tools, and saves money on degreaser as it uses so little. Don't expect spotless results in the nooks and crannies of the drive train, but your chain will be 99 percent clean. The chain pig II is effective if used as directed.The product itself is mostly plastic, as are most of its competitors in this price range. It's about as durable as plastic can be, but be careful of the hinges which are also molded plastic and somewhat fragile. The metal pig tail which attached to my rear derailer did not stay in place and I was forced to hold the chainpig in place as I back pedaled but this was easy enough and didn't require much effort. I've used the park tools plastic chain cleaner in the past, I would say this is about as effective but way cuter!I'm currently using this on my waxed road bike chain because I'm lazy but where it really shines is for commuters who just need a quick cleaning of the gunk out of there chain without all the fuss, tools, and detailing of a drive train disassemble. That is how I've used it in the past and it works wonders for that purpose. Be careful with it's plastic parts but aside from that I definitely recommend

works much better than alternatives. nice hook (pig tail) so you do not need to hold it while cleaning. Nice option to pour chain cleaning liquid while it is attached. There are cheaper options - but even more expensive brand name options are much worse.

I had a Park chain cleaner previously, and it worked, although it was both finicky and flimsy. It finally broke. When it was time to clean by bike chains, i started looking around and found Pedro's pig and after reading the reviews I gave it a shot.It is head and shoulders better than anything else I've used. Intuitive to use, easy to disassemble and clean. Highest recommendation.

Haven't used it very much yet -- but the few times of use have been pleasing. Cleaning solution stays in place and the brushes seem to do an adequate job.

This is so much easier to use compared to the competitors. No handle to hold onto, just the unit itself. Stripped and cleaned the chain in about 15 minutes. The unit itself appears to be sturdier than others I have used. A real game changer for me.

I keep this and its parts in a half-gallon zip lock bag. Uh, it did fall apart and off the chain but maybe that was some error on my part. It was easy to use and it cleaned the chain. Even clean, the chain continued to bind and jump. I loosened all the binding links I could find but the problem continued. The bike didn't have that many miles on the drive train and the wear wasn't apparent on the sprockets or the chain but the grit had, apparently, gotten inside the rollers and continued to bind the links. I should have cleaned the chain more regularly. Rather than replace the chain I got an IGH bike with a belt. I'd wanted one for 30 years but they were hard to get for years then when they came to Amercia I was loyal or cheap. I wasn't going to replace a functioning derailler bike just because I knew there were better younger models. I'm keeping this for my ̶m̶i̶s̶t̶r̶e̶s̶s̶ sport bike that doesn't get the dirty unappreciated miles.

As you can see the design of the chain pig certainly is fun. Upon receiving the chain pig and taking it out of the box I was surprised how sturdy the plastic it is made of felt. The brushes inside the chain pig are quite firm, and the sponge in the pigs nose is good quality. I have only used the chain pig once to clean a chain that is not neglected of light cleaning, but had accumulated some black grease/paste. Using the chain pig was easy, it attached to the bike with no trouble, and I filled the chain pig with some natural biodegradable kitchen degreaser from trader joes. After rotating the chain backwards for about thirty seconds through the chain pig, a soapy lather developed on the chain. I emptied the chain pig and replaced the degreaser with water, and repeated the process until the chain was free of degreaser. When all was said and done, the chain appeared much cleaner on the outside, with no noticable grease, as well as between links and the edges of the rollers. Thus far, I am happy with the purchase, and don't regret not buying a Park Tool, or cheaper alternative.
