Whether you are getting this for a beginner or more practiced artist, I think you will be happy with this set. There are many charcoal pencils, a couple of white lead pencils and sharpeners/erasers to last a long time. The sketch pad is really good size and contains many pages. I studied other sets for sketching and, for the price, this set seemed the best. I am very happy with this complete product.

I bought this set for a young lady who shows some real talent. She was working all in pencil and from my own experience years ago once you discover REAL charcoal, there is no going back. A terrific assortment of types and pencils ranging from very soft to very hard, just what you need to enter into the discovery of charcoal. Nice case too. Her mom brought her over and she immediately started drawing the dolphin on the cover and I was able to show her some basics of shading and using the different types. Her mom called me 2 weeks later and said she doesn't leave the house without them. All artists need input and influence to make the journey less painful because its never easy. Who knew 7 bucks could change a life?

I have to find other box to store the pencils/sticks. But the pencils/sticks are good. Price is good. I started to use them immediately.
