Autofocus is greatly improved over older models. I photographed my daughter's dance recital and the human detection worked amazingly. I had less out of focus photos than the professional with a high-end full-frame. I like how customizable it is, too. The only improvement I'd make is to use the same tiltable screen as the GH6/GH7.

First off, let's start with what I love about the Lumix G9 II. The image quality and dynamic range is really good. Out of camera JPEGs look fantastic. I like the updates to the rendering pipeline, the colors look really good to me. I can see a nice increase in dynamic range over the original G9. The resolution boost from 20MP to 25MP puts it in line with most of its competitors.Ergonomics and button layout are good. It doesn't have active cooling but I haven't been able to overheat it yet. If you do long video sessions in full sun, maybe consider the GH7.Continuous AF is much improved, especially in video. I trust the AF and have relied on it without failure for paid jobs. The video features put this camera leagues ahead of its competitors. I love v-log, open gate recording, and waveforms. I do a lot of vertical content, so open gate 4:3 is now a must have feature for me. Image stabilization in video is almost gimbal like at its highest settings.Back to photo the high burst rates, low rolling shutter in electronic shutter mode and good buffer size make it great for sports/wildlife. The handheld high-resolution mode is next level, easily handling minor movements in the frame. That makes it much more usable to me than OM System's version of the feature. Now the cons. The build quality is seriously lacking compare to GH6 and the original G9. My multidirectional joystick barely works. It feels a bit cheaper over all and is lacking minor things like locking dials. It just doesn't feel like a premium camera like the OM-1. Besides that, it does have a relatively robust feel and I think it will withstand years of use.Slow startup speed. It doesn't turn on instantly, give a few seconds to boot up. If I'm actively shooting, I just let the camera go into sleep mode to avoid this issue. This isn't a camera you can just flick on and off as needed.Overall, it is one of the best hybrid cameras on the market, especially at this price point. The new phase detect auto focus and subject detect algorithms put this near the top performers in auto focus. With outstanding image quality and video features, plus a great lineup of lenses from both Panasonic and OM System (Olympus), there has never been a better time to me a Micro Four Thirds shooter.

After a full one year review, this camera still continues more features photo and video than the new ones coming in. This is the only camera I use besides my DJI AIR 3s. If you want to see how the G9ii works in different settings night, day, inside, and inside the car check out @ 7K (Rumble App) I post regularly there! As the price now is cheaper this camera makes it completely competitive against any camera model with the same specs. I will buy another one still at this year 2025!Battery life is pretty well slightly below average but I do recommend more than 2 batteries to eliminate that problem.Using the 3 M4/3s Sigma Lens really gives you a 2.88 aperture to give you that blurry background equivalent to a 1.8 on a ASPC size sensor.Stabilization has been action camera equivalent! I never ever would be able to get steady footage while holding it with one hand in 30-40 mph winds. I am amazed with it all the time! The 9mm 1.7 lens partnered with the G9ii makes it super fun to take photos and vlog. I use it all the time! The menu might be the most confusing part. I believe looking for the “Timelapse” option took me 20 mins! Haha! Yes, 20 mins because how many features there are!Overall, the G9ii is literally the best camera out there for solo filmmakers who want all the specs for both video and photo. It haunts me that not a lot of people use this camera however, this cameras images are so “poppy” and beautiful! If you’re reading in 2025, go ahead and buy it. The next generation of this camera will come maybe around 2026-2028.2023 Review:Instead of a full frame I bought this instead. Why?Stabilization:Action Camera Level StabilizationDynamic Range:13 Stops of Range and you can lower your shutter to 1sec HANDHELD and capture beautiful night shotsAutofocus:Fast snappy and 10% worst than Sony auto focusLens Selection:Small and tiny but I rock the Sigmas Trio 1.4I bought this is November 13.2023 and it has been my dream camera because it does literally everything you can ask for. Most peoples deal breaker is the smaller sensor, but like let’s talk about that.Questions you should ask yourself as a photographer:“Do you shoot high ISO? No!”“Can you hand held 1 sec and not shake on this camera? Yes”“Can you get a 2.8 FF equivalent with certain lenses? Yes.”“Can you hike with a telephoto lens? Yes!”“Can you use AI photoshop to make images look cleaner? Yes!”Micro Four Thirds only drawback is the sensor. THAT IS IT! I understand that the body is same size as a full frame, but I will take that over being capped at 60fps with a crop… “FULL FRAME CAMERAS by the way.”This camera has better video features than most full frame cameras that are video centric.I believe micro four thirds is the best cameras for content creators. If you want a full frame look Then, you probably doing professional work. For content creation, all you need is a micro four thirds camera (this one) and you will not see a difference on your phone. I promise.Do yourself a favor and join the underdogs. We will win in the long run as we progress. I jumped shipped because I can control my own lighting so “noise” images will never show for me.It’s way more fun too when it’s lighter and brings in more features!!!

I am new to photography as a personal. I wanted to start to document my life through a photo lens. I own the GH6, S5II, & S5IIX with a variety of lens’ that I use for content creation video work but I will say I really like the G9II over the other cameras for photography specifically. The G9II is light, PDAF has been solid, I bought a sling pouch to carry it and I just whip it out and snap pics I find interesting. Photos looks good, the stabilization is god tier, I for sure recommend the Leica lens for the sharpness! For sure recommend

I'm using this with the 100-400 lens for bird and wildlife photography and it's a superb combo that produces excellent images. The autofocus is very fast and accurate and the auto-detect feature is a huge bonus that I wasn't even expecting.

The G9 mark 2 is even better than the previous G9 which is still a great camera. Things like improved auto focusing, great stabilization. It’s the perfect all round camera for me as I already have several MFT lenses. It’s a seriously good camera for both video and stills.and the price is right.

I have been a Lumix user for years and this is my sixth camera. It is by far the very best. Once I got everything dialed in, this has been an amazing camera. The autofocus kicks butt.
