First of all I positively love the player. It does as advertised and should last for many years. Normaly I would give this bombo a 5 star rating but the remote pulls that down by at least one star. Basicaly it is TOO SMALL for my hands. I almost always have to use two hands in order to use it. One hand to hold the remote and, more often than not, the finger nail of another hand to push the botton. This is especially true for the three bottom rows of buttons, the spacing between them is way to close.Other than the remote I have no complaints.

This 4K UHD Player is just exactly what I needed. I recently just started buying 4K Blu-ray’s and I needed something to play them at the best quality, with HDR support. The playback is responsive and quick either for standard Blu-ray’s or 4K of course. The controller is simple and comes with batteries. The set up itself is easy. I have no need for internet use with it, but if you do, you will need an Ethernet cable. It does not have any bothering lights. And the quality of picture is beautiful. Does not come with an HDMI cable, but most of these never do. Highly recommend for standard movie watching in 4K in your home theater.

My purpose in purchasing this machine was to find a 4K Blu-ray/DVD player that would be compatible with my two (non-4K) HD televisions, and that would also be easy to set up. Why would I want a 4K player if I don't own a 4K TV, you ask? Two reasons: one, because I have a sneaking suspicion that eventually, movies released on disc will ONLY be released on 4K, and so I want a machine that will play them, even if the resolution is limited by my regular HD TVs, and two, so that one day, if I do upgrade to a 4K TV, I will have a fully compatible disc player.Upon hooking this Panasonic 4K player to my 2017 model-year Samsung HD TV, it worked just fine. HOWEVER, strangely, only the picture was good with my newer, 2022 Samsung HD TV. The sound was extremely loud and "hollow", even at the lowest volume setting and after trying out multiple different HDMI cables.So, I can only use this on one TV-- which is fine, since I continue to use a regular Blu-ray player on the other --but I hesitate to recommend this unit to someone whose TV might not be compatible. I imagine that on a regular 4K TV it should work just fine.Also, this Panasonic player does not come with an HDMI cable; so you will have to purchase oneseparately or use one that you already have.

I got this to go with my new 4K TV. I also got the 4K versions of LOTR at the same time, so that I could enjoy Middle Earth in all of its glory. The picture is amazing.That said, I do have some Blu-Rays that don't work with it. My Star Wars Original Trilogy boxed Set of Blu Rays stutters. I also noticed My Alien Trilogy Blu Rays do as well. It's a shame, I was looking forward to seeing all the details in the blacks for the Star Wars Space Scenes and the Alien creature.I read that the firmware update might counter this, however when I connected it to my router with a network cable, the firmware was completely up to date.I believe it has something to do with the encoding Fox was doing like 10 years ago. Other DVD's and Blu Rays that are not Fox work just fine. Heck, even Die Hard (original, which I wrap Xmas gifts to) worked just fine as well. It must be something about the encoding for those boxed sets. Regardless, this 4K Blu Ray player is a keeper and looks amazing on my 65" QLED 4K Roku Plus TV (highly recommended as well)!

Solid player and plays standard def Blu Rays just fine.There was only one issue I had that isn't really the player's fault. I started running into a string of 4K HDR Blu Rays that wouldn't play the default English sound track. Very strange - all of the other sound tracks, ( other languages & commentary tracks ), would play fine but the English track just wouldn't play on certain titles - Wizard of Oz, John Carpenter's The Thing, Jurassic Park and a couple others.I was worried about having to replace them, but dug into the player's audio setup. I had changed the setting to play PCM by default instead of some other standard I had not heard of - problem solved.

Update:I replaced the NVME drive, and when I turn off any settings for making the monitor faster for video games, the player works flawlessly. In my situation, changing the resolution or color space causes the digital receiver to upscale a movie. With stock settings, it appears that the UHD player upscales the video. I like either, but now I use the default settings because I am finished exploring the features of the UHD player.NVME: ORICO M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure, Western Digital SN770I like this player very much. Currently, I watch video files more than disks. I put the video files on a USB NVME enclosure. Sometimes the player freezes, and I have to unplug the player. Sometimes, when playing files with the USB function, the audio/video sync fails during the first minute of a video. I turn the player on and off, and the audio and video are synced again. When I watch HD Videos, I change the color-space settings to the HD color-space. I believe reproducing HD videos with an HD color-space changes the colors on my monitor, and I believe that the quality of the images is more exciting. Despite the problems I have when using the USB function, which might be caused by my USB NVME enclosure, I like this player very very much. I use it every day. Great purchase.
