This is a very beautiful PTTCE201 student cello outfit that comes complete with One (1) Brazilwood bow. This cello is set up and ready to play, hand carved with high gloss finish, solid hand-carved spruce top and solid hand-carved maple back, sides, neck and scroll. This cello has beautiful inlaid purfling, and pegs, fingerboard and chinrest are made from ebony wood. Tailpiece is made from ebony wood with one built in fine tuner. High quality Austrian rosin cake is included. Bow has double pearl eye, real unbleached Mongolian horsehair, it also comes with deluxe padded bag and high quality rosin. Good sound. Stand is for display only, this package does not include a cello stand.

So I knew that this wasn’t going to be a top of the line cello for $500. The case is pretty decent quality, and the bow isn’t too awful. The cello body is pretty decent, but the fingerboard is painted black, and it looks like the pegs and tailpiece are as well. The A string broke immediately as I was tuning it. I had bought Helicore strings to put on it anyway, but it was a bit annoying. The sound with the Helicore strings is nice, and the instrument is set up pretty well. I am a violinist, and am teaching myself cello, so this will do for now, but realize that this is only a beginner cello. Oh, and the pegs slip like crazy as well, but I was also expecting that, since this is not a super high quality instrument. I have peg glue on the way as well.

this instrument has incredible tone. the flame is lovely and i frankly don't understand how they were able to give so much for this price. i did order seperate fine tuners for all strings, new strings and got a better bow, rosin and frankly this sounds and looks just as nice as my $6,000 cello. i am adult intermediate cellist who has been playing for 4 years and this is truly just as lovely as my johnston instruments professional cello which i rented and ended up buying. i highly recommend this purchase. it sounds so nice with a better bow that i am playing more.
