Worth the money - found dirty terminals right away. I wanted to get a cheaper tester, but the reviews scared me away. When I first pushed this tester in, I only had 5 lights. After wiggling it a little, I got all 7 lights, with a little but of 'blinking' - then had a look at the terminals on the truck side, and found just enough corrosion to prevent good contact. A few seconds spray of the CRC electronics cleaner, and all lights are bright on the tester, AND the trailer!

It did what it was supposed to very well. As some other reviewers noted, it only goes in upside down on some GM trucks but fortunately I had enough slack in the wires to leave the plug outside of the bumper while I tested, otherwise you're on your back on the pavement while someone is applying those reverse lights as compared to more expensive testers that swivel. Another option might be to put a small mirror on the bumper underneath it, but I didn't have to - it worked perfectly.

Solid, well-made. However, does not work as a tester for Redarc brake controllers. I have the Tow-Pro Elite. This tester does not work as a trailer substitute. I had to use an automotive electrical tester to provide the load instead.

This circuit tester is a nice tool to have on hand to check the electrical connections between a tow vehicle and a trailer. It works great and does everything it is suppose to do. It has markings on it so you know which connections work and which do not. I purchased a wiring harness extension that has enough length so that I can bring the circuit tester to the tow vehicle’s driver’s seat. That way I can test all of the light functions to the trailer (head lights, marker lights, brake lights, back-up lights, 12 volt connection, and turn signals) without having to go to the back of the vehicle to test each function. This saves a little time if you don’t have an extra person available to view the circuit tester if it is plugged directly into the tow vehicle’s wiring harness. It also helps to make the circuit tester easier to read by avoiding obstacles that may get in the way of the circuit tester’s lights such as the cover flap of the tow vehicle’s wiring receptacle. Overall, this is a nice circuit tester and I am glad to have it as part of my trailering equipment kit.

The tester function right. 1 unit for both 4 pin and 7 pins connecter. Easy to use and very affordable price. One thing I don't like is when I tested the trailer wore connector on my 2016 chevy silverado 1500, the lights on the tester had to face down, so that made it not easy to see. There may better ones for silverados. But this one maybe good other cars.
