We created the first OXO mandolin slicer in 2004, and we've been perfecting the art of slicing and dicing fruits and vegetables ever since. The OXO chef's mandolin slicer 2.0 combines the best features from our original mandolin slicer, with some updates to make it even easier to use, like an angled blade and a top-view indicator window to make switching between blade settings quick and seamless. Create up to 21 different cuts with thickness settings in 0.5-Mm intervals, straight and wavy blades, and built-in julienne and French fry blades. Prep like a chef without needing professional knife skills - or a knife at all.

I gave this one star because is seems to be well made. Very disappointed with performance. I purchased this because of recommendations I read. It is wasn't past the return time i would return it. I used it several times on a variety of items from potatoes to tomatoes. With potatoes it was very hard to use and often would hang up. Tomatoes it wouldn't slice at all no matter the thickness. I checked the blade that carries a warning "Very Sharp" and found that couldn't be further from the truth. My blade was very dull not much sharper than a butter knife. I would not recommend this product.

I bought a cheaper one that didn’t feel very sturdy. Sent it back to Amazon. This product is excellent. Did very thin sliced onions for smash burgers and did 1/4 inch carrots for soup. Breezed right through it. Blade tucks under for safe cleaning. Highly recommend this product.

Only mandoline I have ever used, but like the sturdy base, adjustable width of slices, uniform sizes, and ease of cleaning. What I have learned so far is, slicing is done in record time, and I am at the end of the vegetable or fruit before I realize it. VERY important to use the guard that comes with it, and also purchase some knife-resistant gloves. NOT for children! Makes quick work of slicing, julienne, shredding, and other cuts, but one needs to pay attention or else you will cut yourself on any mandoline. Restaurants use them all the time. I tried to add a photo, but did not succeed, but it is beautiful when every piece is the exact same thickness and length. Pay attention and be creative! Glad I purchased it.

I love the features, the easily customizable slicing, for thickness, julienne, etc.; it's easily cleanable, safe, foldable for storage - I love everything about it, except the blade! I found it hard to push the food through to slice almost from the day I got it. And it has only gotten worse. I'm going to try to talk to OXO about it and maybe get a new blade to compare.

I had the original Oxo mandolin. When this new one came out, I decided to retire my old mandolin and by this one. I'm really glad I did. I have more options for slice sizes. It's very sharp and easy to keep clean. I use a glove instead of the gripper but the gripper does work really well. I love that it's easy to clean and stores easily. Also unlike the original officer, the blades are contained within the mandolin so the only blade you switch out is for wavy slices. It's so fast and so convenient. I use it all the time. One thing you should know is it is made of metal, so it should be rinsed off as soon as you're done using it especially if you're cutting tomatoes. Also because it's made of metal it is heavier than the original model, but I like that it has a good weight to it. The kickstand is really sturdy and holds the mandolin at a nice angle. All in all it was worth the money to me to upgrade

This is the best Mandoline I've owned and even outperformers the commercial one I use at work. It has an excellent range of sizes and the two Julian cuts are also exceptional. The safety holder works well to keep your hands clear of the very sharp blades. I highly recommend this product if you are looking for a quality Mandoline.

The slicer is quite nice, but the company non-response to a simple question is unacceptable.Through Amazon I asked OXO if replacement blades were available. The initial request required a bunch of data from me to even get the request considered. After my response to them, they sent me a long automated generated form asking for the same info from me. I replied that all I needed was a simple answer to a simple question. Their response was the same long automated form asking for the same info.I COULD NOT GET A RESPONCE, but that isn’t the worst part. With no replacement blades available, this slicer becomes junk when the initial blade gets dull -all blades get dull over time. Then you must replace this junk with a new product – much too expensive for my pay grade.Do you think I’ll send it back? I wish I could give it five negative stars.Edit 1After getting to talk to someone on the phone, I verified that there are no replacement blades available, and never will be. I inspected the bade carefully and decided that I could sharpen the straight blade with my Chef’sChoice Trizor 15XV sharper. That made it worthwhile to try and work with it.The straight blade was very badly sharpened with severe and irregular deep tool marks on the blade. It was so dull that it was safe to run your finger along the blade edge. It was so dull that it took great effort to slice a potato ¼ inch wide slice. I doubt a female could do it at all.The tool marks on the replacement were a little more uniform, but the blade had gained very little sharpness. A knife sharpened with my chef’sChoice sharpener can be sharpened until it will slice copy paper, and that is the standard I use for knife sharpness. The new blade would just bend the paper and not attempt to slice it – not acceptable. Sharping the new blade was in order. My sharpener gives a good idea about the hardness of the metal of a knife by how long it takes to sharpen the knife – the harder the steel the longer time it takes to sharpen. OXO claims that the metal is high grade Japanese steel which is very hard. This blade required the most work I have ever done on a knife. All the tool marks had to be removed and the edge redefined. It took about an hour to complete the work meaning that it is very hard steel, and it will slice copy paper with ease. It will now also slice ¼-in potato slices with ease. I believe it will do a very good job on any straight blade only job.But that’s not the end of the story.None of the vertical blades can be sharpened because of their design, and I can’t figure a way to sharpen the wavy blade. But that doesn’t really matter because I believe all the functions except straight blade slicing are useless – yes useless.SafetyThis is a good-bad situation. The food handler design and operation make for very safe operation while slicing.ButAs has been reported, the blade is held in place by friction only. There is a little friction when the wavy blade is visible, and almost none when the straight blade is visible. With the straight blade visible, it will slide out of the mandolin if you turn it on its side and just shake it gently. This is certainly a design defect. A lock should have been provided to remove this hazard. This hazard may be enough to keep you from buying this mandolin.ConclusionIf you can’t live with the safety hazard, or sharpening requirements, or use of the straight blade only, DON’T BUY IT.I have not made the mandolin safe in transportation and storage.Edit2I make a water proof strap wide enough to cover the blade area and long enough to wrap around the table with a loop holding the blade in place and the whole thing secured with hook and loop tape.I feel that it is now safe, and if you can put up with all the problems, you may like it.

The product’s quality is quite lovely. I appreciate the various mechanisms and options it provides. However, I was surprised that the blade was not sharp enough to cut anything and was not ready to use straight out of the box.

This was purchased with canning season in mind. It has proven to be so much more as we use it 3 or 4 times a week for everything from salads to french fries. Variety of thicknesses is amazing when slicing and it has sliced cucumbers to tomatoes perfectly.French fry size is perfect for oven fries. More of a shoe string size which we prefer. The mandolin is rock solid and easily cleaned with a long handled brush to stay clear of the blades.

I purchased the Oxo Mandoline 2.0 after trying a couple of other devices. I wanted a tool for my kitchen that would allow me to slice fruits and vegetables of even thickness. The Oxo Mandoline 2.0 is perfect for my needs. Some may find the tool very expensive but I'd say that if you want something that is durable and elegant, you should be willing to pay more.CAUTION!The food holder of this Mandoline doesn't allow you to slice the last few centimeters of the food item. I cut my thumb badly today after I tried to slice the last few centimeters of my cucumber. If you want to use your hands to hold the food you're trying to cut, wear cut-resistant gloves.

I bought a really expensive mandoline for my now Ex. I was very nice with lots of blades and settings, it never got used much. I wanted one to assist with food prep, which I do weekly. I just looked up OXO as I have a few other products from them. I took the risk and got it. This mandoline works beautifully; it is a simple, one two-sided blade. All the basics are here and it is easy to clean and to take care of. It is very sharp, make sure you read the directions first. I would buy another one if this one ever breaks.
