I got this Long Range Outdoor TV Antenna to potentially replace the directional TV antenna that originally came on my twenty year old motorhome. I hoped it might match or exceed the ability of the twenty year old antenna to pull in signals. Unfortunately, the antenna does not work as well as the older antenna. I first tried temporarily installing the antenna on the roof of the motorhome, which is where the seller recommends. Installation is easy. The antenna base screws to the roof of the RV, and the antenna attaches to the base with one bolt with a quick connect head (I did not actually attach the base to the roof as I wished to try it first). Beyond that, it is just a matter of attaching the coax cable and the signal amplifier, which attaches directly to the TV.Once the antenna was installed, I tried scanning for channels. The old antenna picks up 42 channels, although a few are weak. Initially, the new antenna only picked up 22. I then tried moving the new antenna so that it sat on top of the old, directional antenna, which lifts about three feet above the RV roof. Even with the new antenna at the same height as the old one, it only was able to pick up 32 channels, 10 fewer than the old antenna. While I like the fact that this antenna is omnidirectional, eliminating the need to rotate and aim the antenna, the loss of almost a quarter of the channels I can get with the old antenna is not a worthwhile tradeoff, especially since this antenna is fairly expensive. I will be keeping the old antenna and not using this new one. I expected more from an antenna that is twenty years newer and sold as a long range antenna. Anyone who wants an easy to install antenna that will provide some of the stronger channels without having to be aimed may be happy with this, but anyone who wants top notch reception of more distant channels should look at other options. I can only give this three stars for its weak ability to pull in channels.
