I’m issuing the photo for attention…hehe….I’m making dog shampoo bars out of this soap base! Please take a few minutes to visit this stores website and leave an honest review their as well if you were planning to review this product here on Amazon. There was only one review on their website for this product and it was a one star?!? It seems silly.I left mine on there but I wanted to give a bit more detail. The lathering is AMAZING and so soft! I was for some reason supposed to see it “bubbling” or “foaming” when I was lathering it in my hands because when I think of oatmeal soap I for some reason don’t think of bubbles lol. When I stuck my stirring spoon that was full of it in the hot boiling water when I was finished with everything it melts in the water like MILK it’s so pretty and satisfying to me.The alcohol smell (in my opinion) that I’ve seen on previous reviews I believe is a rubbing alcohol layer on the outside of the soap for packaging that doesn’t affect the actual soap or smell of it once broken into and used. So don’t panic if you open and it and hold it to your nose right away and smell it. When you start cutting it up and working with it then try smelling it if your curious.Again I’m super impressed with this soap base and excited to keep buying it! I also wanted to note that I didn’t really smell much of oats or oatmeal personally but I don’t have a super strong nose. That may actually be a good thing for those that don’t want a super oat-mealy smell but want the benefits of using this soap base.Make sure when it comes to layering, you’re quick about it! It hardens pretty fast. But a lot of reviews on here that do more of the layering stuff found it a great soap base for that too!Don’t forget to leave a review on their website!

Considering this was the 1st time I've ever made my own soap, I'm very pleased with myself! I started off by cutting the 1 lb block into cubes, then melting this oatmeal base in a double boiler. It's best to melt this slowly over medium heat, which took about 10 minutes while stirring constantly. This is not the sort of process where you can walk away and chat on the phone. I added 1 tsp of coconut oil and once that melted I took it off the heat and added approx 10 drops of 100% pure peppermint essential oil. Be sure to have your molds ready to go before hand: on a cookie sheet or another hard, movable surface. Pour the melted soap base into your molds, then spray the tops of the soap with isopropyl alcohol to remove any bubbles or froth. Allow to cool at room temperature or speed up the process by putting the molds into a refrigerator, which is what I did. This did not cause any sweat to form on the soap. My homemade Oatmeal-Peppermint Soap came out amazing with lots of lather and a great scent. The 1 lb block made 4-4oz bars of soap and I couldn't be happier with my new found hobby! I will be buying Our Earth's Secret brand soap base again. Next time I'll be trying the Shea Butter and adding a vanilla fragrance oil.
