I had high hopes for this. I used it 4 times. Worked great until the case cracked. Now I can't tighten the monitor so I can see it what I'm shooting. The monitor swings freely.I'm not a professional videographer now but was years ago. This would not last in a professional environment.

At an under $200 monitor it really packs a punch. Very similar menu layout to my aging smallhd 502 that cost a fortune when I bought it years ago. It may not be built as well but better in many ways if only needing an hdmi in. Boot time is surprisingly decent at roughly 10 seconds. Includes all the tools you would ever need and has the option to add many custom pages with just those tools you need for each job or user. I’ve noticed that when viewing off angle whites displayed seem to not be as warm and image seems a bit washed. If viewing directly center to the monitor it’s not a problem. I always have a waveform displayed so it’s not anything that is a deal breaker. I’m not convinced that it’s a 1000nit but likely close. Nit perception might be due to the lower quality of the screen and viewing angle. A hood will want to be used in some outdoor situations. The build is flimsy so recommend taking precautions when adjusting the position of the monitor on the camera as to not stress or break the plastic frame. There are currently no cages available that I know of. I have several monitors and i dont think it will replace any completely but it will be the one I use when I want something super light with very decent battery life. Will also always be packed as a backup taking up very little space.

I have been looking for a small monitor for a while. My previous one has been a small HD 502 which has a fantastic user interface and excellent image quality. The problem with it was the screen brightness which landed somewhere around 400nits. Which always made it tough to judge the true exposure of a shot (indoor and outdoor). The image always looked darker than what it actually was. So basically, I just wanted a brighter version of that without dropping a ton of cash because lets be honest, 5-6" monitors should not be costing between $500-$1000. The new budget Small HD is utter trash. and other options that have a great interface and at least 800nits brightness are hard to find. Plus, I don't need touchscreen. In fact, for a monitor, I didn't actually want it since it gunks up the screen. A simple joystick was all I wanted. Enter Osee, which I had never heard of. It seemed to have everything I wanted. Joystick controls, ari locating holes for magic arm mounts, all the imaging tools like waveform, peaking, false colour etc, the ability to create multiple pages (I think the max is 3 which is no problem), it takes both Sony and Canon batteries and has 1000nit brightness. And all this at an amazing price. So what's the catch? There really isn't one! The build quality isn't the most robust but unless you're an idiot and don't know how to properly take care of your gear, then it's totally fine. This is a fantastic monitor and I have added Osee to the brands that I will use again.

I was tempted to buy the expensive monitors but something told me that it might not be the best investment for me. I am not into video, yet, but it seemed like a good idea to buy a monitor because it would help me focus and would be more comfortable to use my R5. And it does do those things, but I am not sure it would work out for me on a professional gig, I think I'd end up ripping it off after 20 minutes of still photography. The primary reason is that it's slow to change from live view to image review. If you want to chimp a little you have to be prepared for the monitor to take a while to switch over to slide show, then you have to wait a while for it to switch back to live view. I didn't time it but it was at least ten seconds. I would have been very frustrated by this delay on a job.You could argue I shouldn't be chimping, and you're right - but sometimes you need to be 110% sure you got a shot and that it's not secretly blurry or out of focus, so I chimp. We all do, don't lie.I am still giving it five stars though because I think most people would want this thing for video, and wouldn't use it for still photography. And for video this thing is well worth the money. I could totally see where the focus tools and histogram would totally come in handy and make your job easier. The lack of a touch screen didn't bother me as much as I thought it would - and the complaints about poor build quality on the joy stick were not as much of a big deal for me. I kind of appreciate that it's all plastic, it's making the unit much lighter than I think it would be, so all good. One drawback that is not Osee's fault - you can't control the canon r5 with the monitor. I think you can do that with some competing monitors on a Nikon, but not a Canon. Also, as soon as the monitor starts up the canon R5 screens and viewfinder go blank. This means no more moving the focus point my touching your screen. If you are trying to figure out if you want a field monitor, this is a good place to start. Plenty useful and has all the tools you'll need with out breaking the bank. All in all, it's am impressive piece of kit for $145 and it will live, mostly unused, in my camera bag forever or until i get into video.

This little monitor is the dark horse for sure! I read the reviews and felt confident to purchase it. I neeed a light, functional on-camera monitor that did false colors, zebras and histograms and the price was right so I thought - let’s give it a go. When I opened the box I thought it felt rather toy-ish but slapped in a battery, lugged it into the camera s turned it on. The rest as they say is history. Awesome color, beautifully bright and the way that you can set it up is terrific. I love that you can set it up exactly as you want it with the tools you use and omit the tools you don’t use. Easy yet brilliant. And because it’s super light, I do t even really know it’s there. It’s a great little monitor and would, and likely will purchase another!

I picked this monitor up after watching several YouTube reviews that all raved about it. It mostly lives up to the hype.I use this as a bigger screen for my camcorder and camera. It works well, has a ton of features, and is very bright. I appreciate that it uses the Canon LP-E6 batteries as well as the Sony ones. So far I only have had two minor issues...1. the included bracket is not quite square... this leads to the monitor sitting not quite level... annoying, but not a deal breaker.2. I am getting color banding on the display where I should have a smooth gradient. I have not seen this mentioned in any review, so it may very well be a user issue, or to do with the hdmi output from my camera. This is not a deal breaker for me as I am using the monitor for framing and checking focus. If you need an inexpensive field monitor, this one appears to provide great value.

Overall satisfied. Interface a little unintuitive, and the joystick build quality isn't amazing.Other than that, this is an affordable display, with good resolution and brightness for the price, and a feature set that can't be found on many monitors twice as expansive. If you can live with build quality that isn't the best, but still really solid, this is an amazing monitor.

This 125 dollar monitor is perfect for travel it's lighter than my iPhone 12 pro max with a big case. It gives lots of features for creatives to see things like focus peaking, zebra, and false-color to name a few. It can have luts downloaded and add to the monitor. It's far less expensive, bulky and heavy compared to an Atomos V. Although and atmos you can record to an external recorder and that has a touch screen which this doesn't. The button used for the control is really the only downside of the product as it does feel a bit plastic. It comes with several HDMI cables and a way to attach the monitor to a different set up with it having two quarter-inch threads on the side and the other on the bottom. The monitor is excellent for mirrorless cameras and small gimbals such as the crane m3. I really had fun using the monitor on my trip to Miami. Also, I have messaged Osee on Instagram and they do respond which is always great. I highly recommened it.
