Soldered it and it didn’t turn on. Checked it for cold solder joints and everything was soldered. Don’t expect much, but it was still a fun solder kit.

Took my time putting it together, but no -5 volts so centered the wave was impossible. Tried to rework it, died after that. In the manual it said that it could be powered on 12 volts, I think that's where the problem started. May get another on use a 9 volt battery with low current and see if the transistors don't burn up. This is a common problem from what I can tell.

For a scope sold for less than $20.00 it was a good value. Being a senior citizen with failing eyesight, it was difficult to read the value on two of the mica caps. In fact, I had my reading glasses on looking through a magnifying glass and I couldn't make the value out. My wife finally was able to identify them and once she did I was able to see for myself -- they looked like they were hand painted on the caps.On the plus side, I had no problem once the power was applied as the unit came right up. I've been in electronics since a teenager (50+ years) and generally there can be gremlins.

I wrecked the PCB by desoldering a component without the proper skills so I ripped traces. I was able to repair the damage but I can only get background lighting on the display. So I boght a second one for another try. Very fun kit but not for beginners. I would rate it intermediate to advanced.

Was fun to build and it works. I wouldn't recommend it as a first electronics project. While nothing was hard to solder, the board was a bit cramped in places. You'll definitely need a multimeter and a very strong magnifying glass to id all the components. My only criticism is I'd be thrilled if the finished project fit into the plastic case it came in.
