I've barely touched a wall in town and the marks in the fabric are very deep. I don't understand how the fabric wears so quickly. It's a sign of both bad design and poor quality. Do not choose this product or this brand. I think I will return those very "cheap" bags.

MODEL DIFFERENCESThere's a Roller City and Roller Classic. I admit I was not paying close enough attention to the model when I bought these City bags.In hindsight, I would recommend taking a look at the Classic because they include some straps that offer some additional flexibility in usage. They are a little more expensive, but I think they would have been a better choice for me.The side clips would be more versatile if they had a strap you could cinch/loosen. This forces you to do 3-4 full rolls to clip them shut, rather than maybe 2 if you need some extra capacity.SIZEThe size of these paniers are a good balance. They are a little bigger than a large paper grocery bag when open. They lose about half their volume when clipped shut, but that should be expected with the rolltop.DURABILITYThey seem about bombproof. Mostly using them for grocery store runs, so they haven't really been stressed.USABILITYThe automatic latch on the handle is great and works well most of the time. It's very clever. Other reviewers mentioned this, but this feature makes them easy for thieves to remove too. Some rudimentary locking mechanism would be a nice-to-have as a deterrent.--- UPDATE ---I have had these for a few months now.SAFETYThe reflective zones are very bright. I had them stored in a dark room and scared the life out me when they caught the light one night.SIZEThe rolltop can actually be closed with just a roll or two. 3-4 rolls is probably the intention, but I've gotten away with fewer.USABILITYI have come around to the side clips. I didn't realize it at first, but they have a hole your thumb can be put into to guide the clip into the fastener. I have never used a clip like this before, so I wasn't getting it. Once it clicked (pun very intended), I liked the design much more. You do need to nail the alignment of the clips though. Otherwise it will land crooked in the fastener, and then you have to jostle it to get it out and try again. There's just not a lot of room for error. These still cannot be beat for easy on/off. They're perfect in that respect. My 4 star rating stays (let's call it 4.5), but I will say I have enjoyed they a lot. They work great for groceries and lunchboxes/small coolers.Would recommend without hesitation.

These bags are awesome and it is clear now why they are so popular and we'll respected. I have been using a set of these to daily commute 100mi a week in Illinois and they have not let me down once. I am fairly nuts and will ride in very adverse conditions. I'm probably "that guy" in my area (with a great career mind you lol) that just likes to take on mother nature on the daily and save the car for long trips. These bags have kept my essential daily work attire and equipment (Educational IT) dry and humidity free without fail. Big fan!As for mounting, at first I was a little confused why they have so much movement when mounted. I think now that this is preferred and more durable. If they were made to not move around over bumps and impact, maybe that would be more prone to breaking, especially in the cold because they are hard plastic. Maybe I'm wrong, but it does result in very consistent and confidence inspiring feel to me. Even tho they can move on the mount you feel like they are not going to come unclipped or come off. Can't say the same for the cheaper bags here on Amazon with two hooks and an elastic strap. Thoes came off constantly to the point I zip tied them on. Happy I upgraded to these. I think any oterlib stuff is going to be pretty well thought out, just pick your style and size. The quick release handle is maybe the greatest thing ever. Get to work, pull a handle, off I go!!! Seriously this sounds simple but it's become my primary bag for freeking life.I do wish it had a second more robust handle to carry it when it's off the bike, but there are at least 3 ways to fairly easily hold the bag while you're walking so it's not a big deal and offers a very clean "Pro" look when installed on the bike.

Empfehlenswertes Fünf-Sterne-Produkt.

Ok, so I've owned these for about 5 months now and I have to review them. They're amazing, and I want to walk through what makes these bags so great.Every detail of these bags is considered. They are fully waterproof, we filled it full of water and with the top rolled down properly no water leaked out, even when turning upside down. The material is very strong and feels to be good quality. The bag comes with reflective patches on the side to catch the attention of cars, and stuffing stuff into these bags they always seems to keep their profile and don't bulge out too much. How these lock onto the pannier frame is genius. The plastic frame ensures the pannier bags don't sag and give a good structural integrity which allows easy lifting on and off the frame. The handle unlocks the clips when lifted and when dropped onto the frame automatically lock on, ensuring this bag won't fall off when sat in the frame. Having two bikes with different style panniers, the ability to adjust the position of all three clips allows me to put the bag in the optimal position using only an Allen key and they hold an incredible amount of weight. I've carried crates of beer in these, overloaded them with heavy shopping and one time I didn't clip it on right and found it was holding a load somewhat comfortably in a single clip. Over 5 months of daily abuse I'd have forgiven some damage.I love the roll down flap, it's simple with little to break. The bag is designed with loops either side to accommodate a shoulder strap - sadly, sold separately, and I think this can be used in conjunction with the rat pack?Anyway, you won't be disappointed if you buy these bags.

I have owned these bags for about 6 months. Preparing to commute to work, I wanted a large bag/set of bags that would hold daily equipment and rain gear as well. I had many questions as I was planning to partially convert a Specialized Rockhopper (no rear suspension) to a work commuter. After an exhaustive search, I found the Ortleibs to be large, durable, and without having the need for a separate rain cover, always waterproof. This was a big plus as I often carry electronics. I also wanted a system that was fast on and off, and ready to go when I was, and the back-rollers fit the bill.I paired it with a Blackburn Mtn Rack. I have disc brakes, but bought the model for regular v-brakes. The fit was tight, and my LBS recommended a spacer between the frame and rack in order to clear the back brake mechanism. It worked without the spacer, but my heal hit the bags and the spacer allowed me to tilt the rack back far enough to remedy the situation. The LBS guy put on a nut from a presta valve and presto!I also have a heavy weight ulock,, the Kryptonite Evolution Series 4, velcroed to the top surface of the rack. The rack holds the lock on top, and the bags on the side without interfering one another. They can be removed, added in any order.Only issues: The closures took a few days to get used to, and I kind of wished I'd gone for the next model up which uses only one closure, but not a problem and now that they're mine they're old hat and I wouldn't want them any other way. The bags have no inner compartments, so it's sometimes hard to find things, but if you'll use bags or containers for small stuff, you'll find them easily by feel. Also, after you become daily acquainted with your gear, you'll find it in seconds by feel alone. So, in conclusion, the Ortliebs carry everything I need, book binder, bike lights, keys, rain gear, cable (for use with ulock). They're quick on and off, great reflectivity, and perfectly waterproof, The material is rubberized canvas and thick.. And after a few awkward days of initiation, I'm 100% happy with them and would buy another pair...if ever necessary. One more thing, the rack I mentioned about stays on (sans bags) when I get back on the singletrack. It's so lightweight, it would be more of a bother to take it off. I used Locktite on all bike to rack connections and have never heard a peep out of it.
