I had saddle bags on my bike. I didn't hate them, but I was hoping a bag like this would be a better option, so I got it to try. The bag is really big. It has a huge compartment to put whatever you need. There is also a mesh pocket on the underside of the bag's lid, if you need a little separation. Mainly we might use this for a lock or a lunch for during our rides. It could also be storage for something (not too big) we might buy on the way as well. The bag is big enough for this purpose.Outside, the bag features bungy holders on top, water bottle holder, carry strap, and mounting straps. The bungy holders are pretty standard and very useful. I did like the water bottle holder, because it gives you a functional holder for an extra bottle. It is out of the way, but there if you need it. The carry strap (and hand hold) are nice. These would be good if you do stop and can't secure the bag. You can use the shoulder strap to carry the bag with you. The mounting straps are probably my least favorite part of this product. They work, and I'm honestly not sure how to improve them, but they aren't quick to use. They're not complicated, they just take a little work and if you just want to run in to get a snack or drink (and are worried about security) your probably going to didn't as much time taking the bag off and putting it back on as you will in the store. It's a thing, but I'm not going to dock a star. There is also a rain cover. I'm not sure if this is necessary or not. The bag itself seems like it has some weather protection. The zippers are even protected. Its light though, so I guess it's there if you need it with no real consequence to having it. The only "issue" I have with this bag is it's size. Honestly, that's not a fair critique, but it needs to be said. The bag is large. I put pictures up with it on my bike and with the bag next to a full size basketball for comparison. My bike is a large frame bike, it's really a big bike and the bag still looks big on it. Again, just wanted to clarify the size.I'll find out this summer if it suits my needs and if it can replace the sale bags. I'm happy with what I see now though and I'll keep it on there. Would recommend.

This bag is really sturdy and durable. It has plenty of space to hold my bike tools, pump, and shoes and clothes for work. The shoulder strap is convenient for carrying the bag before or after a ride. The bag is great on road rides, but flops like a fish on trails with any amount of bumps. It needs a better system to keep it vertical on rough terrain, because its attachment points are only along the bottom of the bag. I'm going to try to attach the front of the bag to the underside of the saddle and see if that helps, but I expect the rear of the bag will still flop to the side. The bag would get 5 stars if it could stay upright throughout a ride. The bag isn't super convenient to put on and off the bike either, since you have to undo and redo 4 velcro straps around the frame every time. I expect the velcro to wear out over time. I would love if the bag had a solid base and frame that it could slide into and out of with a quick release mechanism.

So, so, so much nicer than the previous soft sided bag that I've been using on my bike. It is a bit bigger and just a little heavier, so maybe not a perfect solution if you're uptight about the weight of your bike. Our rides are primarily for fitness so we don't mind an extra couple of pounds especially when it means we can carry snacks, beverages and tools. This is big enough that we could take a small picnic with us on a longer ride. And sometimes we do those kinds of rides on rails to trails routes.I've included two pictures to show how much nicer this is compared to the cheaper bag styles. This included a elastic rain cover. It also included a shoulder strap if you wanted to removed the back from the rack and carry it with you. The bike has a pretty standard rear rack on it and the bag attached easily. It really was a 5 minute install. It took me longer to clean out the old bag and move things over than it did to get this one the bike. Highly recommended for sure.
