been using this on my ram for 2 years now. no issues, still holding pressure and soft opening is great still. mounts haven't rusted or corroded a bit and was easy to install. would recommend for a nice priced soft open option!

Additional tools you’ll need for the install are a 5mm Allen Key & 10mm wrench. I started using a crescent wrench but discovered I had a 10mm wrench on-hand from a furniture order. Using a set 10mm wrench was better than using the crescent wrench.Installing the nut onto the tailgate was a little confusing at first because it comes with with an assembly housing. I’d compare it to installing a dry wall anchor…install the anchor first then you can screw into the anchor. The same idea/concept is used to install the lower knob for the shock.Install time took about 25-30min. I had never installed a tailgate shock before tho.The price point of $17.99 helped me pick this item. Time will tell if it holds up.

Fast shipping and works great, but if you are not equipped with some proper tools and a minimum of skill level have it installed by someone knowledgeable. Would buy it again though.

The install was fine. It didn't go in exactly like the instructions stated. I had to tap it in a bit to go in the receiving hole. Also the amount of turns it tells you to do in the instructions was not enough, it was loose right away. I reinstalled the installation tool and twisted it until I felt the "right amount" of resistance and it seems to do alright. It was getting loose the other day so if I saved the tool I will try to give it another turn or 2. Overall, not bad for what you pay and the tailgate drops pretty slow now (almost too slow) but it beats it slamming down like before.**UPDATED** 8/26/24I bought another one of these. I went with the same brand instead of switching to another because the price is hard to beat. It only last 9 months before the body nutsert broke at the tailgate. The actuator still worked but the bottom eyelet pulled out of the tailgate and could not be reattached. I looked up just replacing the nutsert, but that is more expensive than just buying another kit. I hope I don't have to replace this tailgut nut every 9 months or so, then it becomes more trouble than its worth and would eventually be the same price as a better quality DeeZee unit.

Installed this on my 2014 dodge ram 1500. Works great and easy to install. It's been on for about 4 months now and no problems.
