I had been using an old set of spring compressors from advance auto for the past 20 years. Two prong one either end, but only one prong ever fit on the spring and it was always awkward to keep straight as you tighten them. I can't believe I waited so long to invest in a better pair. These make compressing springs on Honda/Acura applications a breeze. Highly recommended.

The product looks nice and is packaged well. It shipped quickly. I used it to compress a brand new spring to assemble my strut. It still works, but one of the two threaded shafts bent. It was either like that upon delivery, or it bent after one use. Either way, I wasn’t impressed with that happening.HOWEVER, after learning of my issue, the company reached out and made it right. I was VERY IMPRESSED with that happening. With customer service like that, I’ll definitely be buying tools from them again.

Honestly, not a DIY project without a proper hydraulic spring compressor.Way too dangerous to change out your own strut springs using one of these compressors.Very hard to keep compressors positioned at 180* opposite each other, they tend to slip toward each other which causs spring to compress on an angle. Also, they can easily slip under higher pressure causing all sorts of p[roblems and dangers. There isn't many tasks I can't or won't perform on anything with an engine, but using these, no way!!Suggest you remove your struts, take them to a shop who has the right equipment and get them to change out the springs, much, much safer and doesn't even cost s much as buying this item!I DO NOT RECOPMMEND THIS ITEM

IT'S DANGEROUS!THE PAINT COATING THAT THIS TOOL HAS, CAUSES IT TO SLIDE WHEN COMPRESSING THE SPRINGS OF THE SHOCK ABSORBERS, WHEN I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO COMPRESS THE SPRING WITHOUT THE TOOL SLIDING, I THOUGHT EVERYTHING WOULD BE WELL, BUT WHEN I REMOVED THE LOCK NUT AND TRIED TO REMOVED THE SPRING AS SOON, THESE SLIPPED AGAIN AND I ONLY GOT ONE HIT WITH THE SPRING, I HAVE BEEN USING THIS TYPE OF TOOL FOR SEVERAL YEARS, (like for 12 years) BUT NEVER THIS BRAND, AND THIS HAD NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE WITH OTHER BRANDS OF TOOLS, AND ADDING THAT THE LOCKS THAT KEEPS THE CLAMPS TO THE SPRING ALSO DO NOT WORK, THEY DON'T STAY INSIDE THE CLAMPSI GAVE A STAR, ONLY BECAUSE I HAVE TO GIVE AT LEAST ONE TO BE ABLE TO PUBLISH THE TEXT, BUT I DO NOT GIVE ANY STARS TO THIS TOOL

My strut mount was broken and I was able to replace it without removing the magnetic shock. You have to remove the fender apron (inner mud shield) to get access to the springs. You normally remove the entire strut, turn it upside down and then you rachet or drill drive the screws. I cut two five inch sections of conduit pipe (green) and mounted them as such that when I jacked the car up I could get my ryobi impact gun underneath to screw them down. Of course proceed carefully, there is a lot of spring pressure. Make sure you have the locks secured. I used a pair of vice grip pliers to keep the device from sliding. I wish I had thought to inspect the rubber/polyurethane upper and lower spring cushions. The lower cushion had a hole in it and the upper cushion was missing. They have these parts on Amazon for this car, nod wink.

I bought these to figure out why my new quick struts were noisy. I was a mechanic for a little over a decade and was to scared you use them but I’m keeping them. The product itself seems to be great quality and would work great but after using a wall mounted spring compressor I just didn’t want to risk it and ended up convincing a local shop to let me use there tool. If your feeling brave these will work just fine. If you might get Sketched out then just find a friend with access to a wall mount spring compressor
