I really wanted salt hay for a lawn seeding, but this was the only thing available on short notice. It is nicely packaged and a box goes a long way. It has a bit more small/fine pieces than I would like, but overall, it is a decent product.

I am not going to give them any less than 3 stars, because part of this is on me. However, I bought a box of hay from this company and it states it covers 75 square feet. I thought the box was a joke when I received it. If you are using for a very light covering of flowers or something, this might be perfect, but for avid vegetable farmers and gardeners, I would suggest weighing the cost and how much you really can use in such a small box. Truthfully, this box only covered 6 of my 50 plants that I will need this for. For over $40, this is way too much to pay for so little coverage. I cannot put a very thin layer when surrounding veggies. You need a couple of layers to keep the weeds down long enough to grow and mature your veggies. If you're like me, look for local farmers with organic straw. I paid $5-10 per bail, which equals multiple, multiple boxes of this companies straw boxes at around $42. I now know how this works, but it just seems deceptive for first time buyers.

Works great but if you are trying to use them for your strawberries. Perhaps a shredded mulched version will be best. This one was kinda hard to work with. Then I saw a gardener on YouTube and realized my problem… it wasn’t smaller blended pieces. They were long and a bit awkward to work with. None the less this was my fault for not being more vigilant on what experts used lol. Nothing wrong with the product. Organic and great quality and dare I say.. smells great lol. Even my chihuahua likes it. But keep in mind what you are using it for.

Works great as garden mulch. Very little seed sprouting.

This straw is long pieces that, if you want to use in garden beds or something, you will want to break up. It works but it had a bunch of seeds in.

Used for all plants in pots to help keep moisture in since summer has been so hot. Also using it in my raised beds since it is also good for the soil when it decomposes. First time trying this instead of regular straw from hardware store. More expensive but better product.

Disappointed with this product basically paid for weeds and lost time in the garden. Took time to shake out the straw before adding to our beds which we just built in our new home that are filled with 5 cubic yds of amazing compost(now new compost that did not have weeds, does). The beds were basically weed free for the first 6 weeks until I got around to ordering this. After just a few days of the straw being on them, weeds are everywhere!! Made the decision to remove so a complete waste, contaminated the compost and will take about 4-5 hours to remove and weed.

Last few years I used coco coir for mulch and really felt that my plants didn’t fair to well. I’m trying hay and immediately liked the results! I can see my plants very well, the soil retained moisture and it looks neat. The hay was well packaged and clean ( a few clumps). I read the page instructions and did a little shake before mulching to rid the hay of any seeds.
