this is a ridiculous tool. Takes a longer time to get a knife between the tines and then try to get leverage to cut an onion. Then it does to just hold it and slice it. Difficult leverage angle using this thing.

I had to cut 1” thick pieces of some venison a neighbor gave us , and the middle of slicer is 1” . So you can get 3- 1” pieces per whole width of slicer. Worked great .

This item is perfect to hold veggies in place for easier slicing, but it has also been used at my home for holding hot meat in place as one slices. The pieces are slim. The tongs are not flimsy and can be trusted to hold items securely.
