This centrifuge is perfect for our home science lab. Very quiet. Kids are enjoying it.I give it only 4 because the power cord did not work. Luckily I had one in the house which fit. Then it ran perfectly. Good thing too because we were working on a science fair deadline!

This centrifuge is very easy to use. I found that buying it on Amazon is much cheaper than purchasing from many websites that specifically sell scientific instruments.

This Mini Centrifuge is a workhorse in a compact package. If you're a lab professional or a DIY science enthusiast, this benchtop centrifuge is seriously worth considering. The first thing that caught my eye was its sleek design with that cool green lid. The 5000 RPM capability and 1360 x g RCF is seriously impressive for a mini centrifuge. It packs a punch, making it highly efficient for spinning down samples or separating liquids and solids. One of my favorite features has to be the low noise level. Clocking in at less than 45dB, this thing is pretty much a library whisper, making it easy to focus on other tasks while running. The unit also comes with two rotors, accommodating various tube sizes, and even PCR strips, which is incredibly versatile. Now, onto the downsides. I've noticed that if you're not super careful with balancing the tubes, the unit can wobble a bit, which is not ideal. Also, while it's good that it's compatible with a range of voltages (100-240V), it would have been nice if it included an option for battery operation for even more flexibility. All in all, this Mini Centrifuge is a pretty solid addition to any personal or professional lab. It's compact, efficient, and the low noise is a huge plus. Despite a few areas that could be improved, its performance and versatility make up for it.

So this is a wonderful centrifuge. I use it for home experiments and what not. I will say the description makes it seem as though it comes with tubes. It does not however. I definitely think for basic use and stuff of this sort the centrifuge is wonderful. I would say it is fairly quiet...the fans in my room are louder than it. It does the job.

I do a lot of biology/ecology/soil science experiments at home, and I've wanted a centrifuge for some time now. I've tried improvised hacks like salad spinners, or making one out of cardboard and twisted string (surprisingly effective!). I even 3-D printed a Dremel centrifuge attachment, but I've been too afraid to try it out lest it shatter and send shrapnel everywhere,So when I had the opportunity to review this, I was really excited. I have an Onilab vortex mixer that I bought that I really like, so I expected I'd be happy with the centrifuge too. I wasn't wrong! It was shipped in some of the heaviest-duty padding I've ever seen. It comes with a packing list, a single-sided instruction page, an alternate rotor (I'm not doing PCR, so I left that one packed), and various adapters. You can pop the rotor on and off fairly easily to load/unload or swap roots, but I'll probably just leave the 8-hole, 2mL rotor in.To test it, I mixed some particularly clay-rich soil with water (using my Onilab vortex mixer!). I let it set for 20 minutes to let the sand and silt settle out, then loaded it into 1.5mL centrifuge tubes. Clay has particle sizes 2 microns and less, and takes days to fully separate by gravity alone.I loaded the centrifuge with two clay tubes and two of water, turned it on, and closed the lid. Yay, spinning tubes! It gets up to speed within a second or two. It's not very loud - hardly whisper quite of course, more kind of a deep, thrumming sound. You can either pop the lid open, in which case it brakes to a stop within a second, or turn off the power switch, and let it spin down more slowly.I don't have a tachometer to verify speed, but I've been told fully separating clay out can take 10 minutes at similar speeds. I got too eager and stopped the centrifuge after just a few minutes, and the separation was largely complete, as you can see in the photograph (side by side with the unsettled clay suspension). Therefore, I feel fairly confident that it's at or near 5000 rpm.Anyway, I'm pretty delighted (yes, I am super geeky) that I now have my own centrifuge. Here's a short summary of this unit:+ Extremely affordable, especially for a home lab+ Fits most conceivable centrifuge tubes 2mL and under.+/- It's small - good for a crowded workspace, but limits number of tubes/size of tubes, (so don't throw away your salad spinner for larger samples!)+ Reasonably quiet+ Safe - auto brake works even if you turn the power off- Single speed

I really like the ONiLAB's Scientific Mini Centrifuge 5000RPM.It works very well and doesn't take up too much space or make too much noise.Doesn't come with any vials so make sure you have some.Would recommend.
