I had some very stubborn cv axles on the Fusion I was working on. Conventional methods of removal were not working. I decided to order up this kit and it worked like a charm. After the 3rd hard pull, the stubborn axles broke free. This kit has everything you need and worth every dollar!

The wrench part was too small for my vehicle. 2nd gen Escape. But that’s not the tool’s fault. I didn’t know what size I needed. Wish it came with another nut to keep the wrench part tight.

The Chrome finish on the item is nice and all of the parts feel solid and heavy but the case is a little flimsy. The inside of the case I received was damaged where the slide would be secured. It's not secured very well so the damage may be the result of rough handling during shipping but box didn't show any damage. I also found the slide would stick when it hit the travel stop near the handle on the unit I received. Definitely something a little file work could resolve. One thing that I also found interesting was the weight of the slide. The slide itself only weighs 4 lbs and maybe 6.5 lbs with the slide and shaft together. Apparently the 10.5 lbs in the description is the weight of all the pieces and adapters combined. Technically the description is correct but could easily be misread.

For anyone who does work on their own vehicles, either cars or trucks or UT VS knows the struggle of trying to get AC. V axle out when it has been well used. There's never enough room to get a hammer on it, or even a cold chisel, on to bang it out. This tool was so nice getting the c. V axle out of the front of my two thousand and seven ram fifteen hundred. The larger forked and worked very well, and it only took seven slides of the weight to pop the axle out. No bloody knuckles and no swearing.I loaned it to my friend who was working on a very old a t v that had been sitting out in the grass for over five years. Needless to say, the underside was quite rusty, and all the axles were being replaced, and he said it wasn't easy, but without this tool, he wouldn't wouldn't have been able to do it at all.I love the idea of the generic cable end. Because that could come in handy on all sorts of removals, that you couldn't get a ham or two, and that the forks don't fit.All in all this tool did a great job. And I think is a game changer for me in the future, when working on axles.Comes in a nice case and seems well built, so I'm pretty confident. It'll outlast me.

It took a little more time to get the axle pulling task accomplished. The hammer weight was not very heavy and the retaining pin for the hammer fell out on the second pull. Used a punch and hammer to knurl the pin better than the factory did and pressed it into place. Teamwork with a co-worker and some choice verbal coaxing got the job done. Had the axle shaft and cir-clip not been as rusted as it was, the job would have been done quicker. Bigger hammer would have helped a lot. Otherwise, a good tool to have around.

Operation wise this tool did what it needed to. I didn't find it slacked in its operation, or build quality to be able to remove joints. It slacked in the department on how to operate this particular model from its basic operation to adding its attachments.I have used joint removal tools prior to receiving this one, and they really need to tighten up the instructions and make them a lot more clear on how to operate this model. I took more time figuring it out and getting a tad frustrated that I had to write out my own instructions to remember how I got something to work, versus referring back to the manual provided. This is the only negative I have to point out about this tool. When it comes to the overall build quality, and quality of the tool itself its a solid mid range tool. I wouldn't put it at a professional usage level but definitely a tool that can be useful in your hobby shop or at home garage. As long as you have some patience learning it, it operates as it needs to and everything was very smooth sailing once I got it all figured out.

Didn't buy this for a cv joint. I used it with a bearing puller attachment which worked much better than the homemade abomination a friend threw together. Was also cheaper when purchased as a cv joint puller than the few other options that were just a slide hammer alone.Pro Tip: Be sure to keep knees or other parts of your body clear of the end of the slide hammer when what you're pulling is nearly out. Almost broke a knee cap on the last pull. 🙃
