All Boys were trained in this assembly method back in the 60s. This was exactly the same, but made better with properly fitting parts, and no missing pieces. Easy as Pie!Use the Pictorial guide included. You should end up with a box that looks like a metal milk crate! The finished basket fit easily into the firebox of my beloved OKJ Longhorn smoker. I'm looking forward to fueling up once for the duration of the Smoke! Excellent addition to an excellent smoker.

This firbasket was too big for the firebox on the Char Griller Competition Pro 8125. I did opt to keep it though, I store my splits in it and put them on the shelf on the bottom of my smoker. This thing is stainless steel, heavy gauge, and should last a long time.

I appreciate that it came to me in a flat pack, though, and with fairly decent foam padding. The M5 screws and nuts come mated in the bag, which is a class act in itself. The dimensional tolerances were spot on. I had initially incorrectly tried to install the sides on the outside of the bottom, but I quickly realized that was not right. Then I loosely installed the sides with the hardware and tightened it all down at the end. Nice box. There's still enough threads on the screws, so maybe I'll install some finer stainless mesh on the inside and use the included screws and some washers to secure it for wood pellet use.

It fits the fire box perfectly and provides plenty of open space under the coals to keep the cinders burning smoothly.

USAGE: I am new to smoking briskets. I have an Oklahoma Joe Highland. I used to have trouble getting proper airflow from the firebox into the smoking chamber. Therefore making it inefficient. Because once the coals and wood turns to ash, it’ll accumulate at the bottom of the firebox below the grate. This item contains the coal which means I can remove it from the firebox and clean out the ash accumulation at the bottom of the firebox to maintain proper airflow. I noticed I am not using a lot of coal this time and also am able to maintain my temperature efficiently and effectively.ASSEMBLY: Don’t over think it. It’s easy to assemble and very sturdy. Other comments stating “instructions aren’t very clear” are over thinking it in my opinion.

I bought this and used it once. I don’t think it’s necessary. But quality is good and looks nice.

Added this to a Pitts & Spitts offset smoker, to be able to do shorter burns with a chimney of charcoal and a couple of wood chunks.Overall, impressed with the fit and finish. Went together easily, good design, assembly alignment and hardware quality. I'd prefer a welded basked, but the flat packing is obviously a huge cost saver.Used it in a cook a couple of nights ago and it performed exactly as I expected and wanted.Well done, OK Joe.

I’ve used mine probably 1/2 dozen times and it does a great job of keeping my fire together and off the walls of my firebox. It’s good sized and seems sturdy. Assembly a little annoying, but simple.I didn’t give it 5 stars, because I don’t know it’s true durability. So far, seems like a good purchase for the money

I bought this to use in my smoker and it works great. This helps me with the set it and forget it practice. Now I don't need to respond as often for temperature fluctuation. I can stack the box with what I want to use to smoke with and it runs great. The materials are sturdy and the assembly was easy enough. I set it up on the floor of my living room with my kids' help. Some crisp edges to be aware of, but they are not razor sharp. Obviously, it has discolored after being exposed to the heat, but there hasn't been any warping or any sort of metal fatigue. I wish it were a little bit larger as some of the precut wood that I purchase from local sources is about a 1/2" to 1" too long for the box. The easy fix is just to push the edge of the box out, it will bulge slightly and place the wood inside of it. Or, you can use a miter saw to lop 1" off the end. So far no issues and no flaws, I am glad I went with this. It makes smoking that much easier.

Without this it wasn't really possible to get a consistent temperature on the smoker. Two lit weber starters full of lumpwood coal lasted 6 or 7 hours at least. This along with latches and gasket felt have enabled me finally to use this smoker properly!
