Ordered the kit to replace the top guide on my rod (not the tip). There is quite the assortment of guides but only one of each. These are one-sided guides, making pre-alignment a bit difficult.Obviously, you have to hold the guide in place before you can wrap it.With a two-sided guide you can always tape one side while you wrap the other.I opted to "thread" an 1/8" dowel through the tip, the replacement guide, and the adjacent guide. This allowed me to position my replacement guide perfectly.I then used a bit of JB Weld to glue the replacement in place.I let it dry overnight, removed the dowel, then was able to wrap it for the final attachment.Directions tell you to cut off the broken guide with a utility knife.I would advise against this as you may nick the rod, causing a weak spot.Use a match or propane torch to SLIGHTLY heat the old glue. The glue may start burning immediately.Blow out any flame and rapidly rub a wood sick over the glue (I used a paint stir stick).Guide, glue, and wrap should come right off.NOTE: The two-part epoxy supplied is extremely thin.Because of this, the epoxy has a tendency to run and drip.Once I applied the epoxy, I spent 15-20 minutes hand turning the rod to avoid any "globs".I also checked it within the hour and turned it again when I noticed a slight build-up in one area.Keep your rod horizontal until epoxy completely set.

I did read the reviews on this kit before I ordered it and saw that some folks were having problems getting the glue to set , I thought they were getting their mixture off , but I carefully measured mine for a 50-50 blend and mixed it well , and sure enough it’s not setting like most epoxies do ! I’m going to let them set overnight and keep my fingers crossed ! It’s a very nice little kit though ! Update : after letting it set all night I found it set up and ready to use ! I am changing my review accordingly
