Usually I don't use cheap parts but in this case I had to and it's been a year and still going strong. Make sure to use the correct bracket and good starter cables.

This product bolts to a 1983 Chevy 6.2 Detroit diesel. Spins over even when the batteries are mostly dead. Takes a 16mm wrench for the mounting bolts and the nut for the battery cable nut and a 3/16 inch end wrench for the exciter wire.

I am an ASE Cert mechanic. The starter appeared to be new, NOT rebuilt, but it only worked for 1 week. Through testing I determined that the solenoid was defective and I would have been willing to keep the starter and replace the solenoid but that was NOT an option that I was offered. I would have been willing to exchange the complete starter but the only way to exchange it was to send it back to the seller and then wait for the seller to send me another 1. That would have taken at least a week (that may, or may not be the sellers policy), and I could NOT afford to have the truck down for that long! So I chose to return it and purchase a starter from another seller.Also, I purchased this starter because it was supposed to arrive in 1 day. Arrived at 7pm 2 days later! That may, or may not, be the sellers fault

This starter turns my diesel truck over like crazy! I hesitated to replace my starter because its tough to change but this starter was worth the effort! Fantastic!

Only thing missing that would have been nice to have is the threaded lug that helps support the front of the starter to the block. I was able to remove this from the old starter but it was difficult to get out and the threads were slightly buggered up. A new one already installed with the nut and washer attached would have been awesome. But it fit perfect and worked as expected after installed.
