My brake set came in the original package and indicated it came with the caliper, a lever, a cable, and an extra center bolt. The package was sealed from the factory and only had the caliper and cable in it. I'm disappointed the other parts were not included but I had ordered a matching lever set with some other goodies so I'm not that concerned. I also had to find another center bolt as the caliper came set up for a rear brake. The bolt was not long enough to go through the fork.

This is much better than the other brake kit sold here for just a few dollars less! It needs to be fitted to the bike but the result was a great fit with smooth action. You will have to cut the cable to make this fit, though. 5 out of 5 stars, would recommend

First of all, they look really good. I bought silver & installed them on a black BMX bike. Improved the bike's look 100%Secondly, the brake lever has very little up and down play in it. Not like the floppy Tektro levers that originally came with the bike. Really, really appreciated this improvement in my bike's functionality.Thirdly, the pads are well broken in by now (two months since installation) and they still don't stop the bike as well as I would like. Probably should buy some better pads.

I've trusted my life to Odyssey brakes and pads for more than a decade. They make the best stuff for BMX bikes. Quality and functionality I literally bet my life on. These are great brakes. They were the pioneers of freestyle riding. I strongly prefer them to Tektro or others.Allow me to address a few reviews here. You CAN mount the brake lever on either side. All you have to do is flip it over, and slide it onto your handle bars. I personally like the front brake on the right (moto-style). Opinions vary widely, so it's an interesting topic to read up on.All brake pads, (cars, motorcycles, and bikes) have an initial break in period. You need to take care and go easy for a bit til they wear off some of the top layer of the pad and (for bikes) coat the rim with a little rubber. Odyssey pads are excellent once they've been broken in. New tires need break in for max traction too, just FYI.Finally, to the guy who had a pad rubbing one side: You have to adjust the center position. The two nuts on the top of the brakes are used for this. Loosen the bottom nut to go one way, and/or tighten the top nut to go the other way. Then apply the brake lever to see where the brakes stop, and adjust as needed. That's all for now. I'll update if I feel I have anything else relevant or helpful to add.

These are great quality brakes. The kit comes with both hardware for a front or rear install. The longer bolt fits through the fork while the shorter is best for the rear cross member. I installed these on a 16in Specialized Hotrock. The cable will need to be shortened to your application. Since each bike is different you'll need to trim the outer shell/casing to the length of where the open caplier will rest and the cable approximately 4 to 5 inches longer. The outer casing has a metal reinforced so you need to be careful with your cut so you nip the outsell without damaging the inner cable. The kit comes with a metal collar to protect the out casing after trimming and a crimp cap for the braided wire. You can install these with a 10mm open ended wrench, diagonal cutters, wire strippers, 5mm Allen wrench, and some zip ties to keep the cable tidy. For an amateur the hardest part will be getting the cable cut and customized. Watch a YouTube video first. I also recommend loosening and adjusting the brake pads to align with the metal rim of the wheel. Tighten down once you are getting even contact that is parallel with the rim. Some have complained about these being only right handed, but I don't see why you couldn't just install the handle on the left side of the handle bar. Yes technically it's upside down, but it has no impact on performance and only you will ever notice. Also you'll need to remove the handle bar grips to install the brake handle, so if you need to freshen them up with new, now is the time to do that.

Good brake set for an old school or mid school bmx build. Good value, and the brakes work pretty well. Pads a little stiff though.

Great kit overall. Super easy to install, although cutting break cable to length is tricky. I used a dremmel tool with success. I used zip ties to hang the cable on the bike frame. The only part I dislike is the hand lever. It's impossible to install without removing the grips. I wasn't going to cut the grips off my son's bike, but luckily i had an extra odyssey lever around. My extra has two pieces so having the grips installed was not a problem. Just be aware, you can't slip the lever over the grips, you either have to remove the grips or use a different lever.
