I detected a dead mouse smell in the downstairs basement living area but wasn't sure where. I bought this and hung it up close to where I thought it was coming from. It did clear the air and then later after finding two dead mice in the floor close to it (after using TomCat bait) there was never a dead mouse smell. I never found the first one but the smell stopped. I've had it hanging a little over a month. I'm considering buying another one to hang in my garage which is full of stuff from a flooded basement and downsizing, just to maybe absorb those kinds of odors as I work in there. I think this product works to absorb other odors as well, so will try it in the garage next. I hope this helps someone else.

Had a dead mouse under sink in RV and I hung in kitchen area of my RV right close to source where it could get proper air flow for several days and then even tried placing it in cabinet under sink/in kitchen island for a week...and it just didn't work for me, at all. Made no difference in bad smell from decaying mouse.

We had a dead mouse underneath the house somewhere in our office, that scent is unmistakable. There was no way we could reach it even if we knew exactly where it was. The smell was unbearable, we even discussed staying in a motel for a week or so until it dissipated. That wasn’t a viable option though. I got a bag of charcoal (just the normal kind you grill with) and opened the entire bag and set in that room and it didn’t make any noticeable difference. I sprinkled baking soda all over that room and again, it didn’t help. I just shut the door to that room and we resigned ourselves to the fact that we were just going to have to wait it out. But even with the door shut the smell was still wafting into our bedroom, which is right next to that room. After doing some research online I happened upon a reddit thread that mentioned this stuff. Skeptical, I bought it and hung it in the room. The directions say it takes 24 hours to fully work but I was hoping it would work it’s magic sooner. About 18 hours later I walked in and was still hit by the pungent smell. I thought this stuff doesn’t work! Well let me tell ya, exactly 24 hours later after I hung it the smell is gone!! Omg I’m so thankful something finally worked! I can live in my house again! I swear by this stuff. It’s a miracle. I’m so happy I could cry.

We had high hopes for this product after a rat had died under our floor boards. We placed 2 bags in our under-stairs storage area where the smell was the strongest and I have to say absolutely nothing happened! We appreciate that the instructions say that the time it takes to absorb odours can differ, but even after a number of weeks nothing had happened. The smell went naturally after many weeks and we cannot verify at all that this had anything to do with the bags. We really wanted to like this product and were quite desperate to have an improvement of the situation in our home. Therefore we were very upset to have spent a substantial amount of money on a product that really did not help at all. I would strongly advise against buying this product and I hardly ever do that. In fact I hardly ever write reviews but could not help myself this time.

Update: It's been about a week and while the worst of the odor is gone, I can definitely still smell it in places despite the nearby presence of two bags. (The third went into the attic last week -- the source of the odor.) It is better sometimes than others. It was better earlier this week, but today I definitely notice it.Overall I am still pleased as it was rank, but would like to figure out how to get the last of the smell out.So . . . Something died under the attic floor above the ceiling. No, I can't get it out so I'm just going to have to tough it up. I bought some kind of gel odor remover which did pretty much nothing. The best I've been able to do is cover it up some with cloyingly sweet Glade Air fresheners. They are pretty awful by themselves, but still somewhat better than the putrid stench of dead animal. I've started crying the last two nights wondering how long this was going to last. In desperation yesterday I bought three of these bags which were delivered this afternoon.OMG, already so much better.I don't think it's all gone yet and I've been afraid to open my closet where some of the smell has accumulated. But six hours later, huge improvement. Tomorrow I'll move one into the closet and toss another one in the attic, as recommended. The instructions say one bag for 100 SQ feet. My house is under 700 sq ft (so truly no place to hide from this!). The affected area was was about 1/3 of house, hence I bought three as recommended. If you're dealing with the noxious odor of a decomposing animal, I'd suggest not being stingy and go ahead and purchase multiple bags. I like that they don't have an odor of their own.So that's my take on the product six hours later. I'll report back if the odor suddenly reappears full on again tomorrow.

I had a dead rat in the wall of my bedroom, yuck! It was impossible to remove. It happened once before so I knew of the horrible stinch, that was only going to get worse. I set out many ordor absorbing air fresheners, they only masked the ordor. The sour rotting rat smell was still detectable. I ordered two earth bags, hung one inside a plumbing access panel and the other close to the area where the smell was the strongest. Within hours the smell was almost gone. It continued to prove overnight. On a cool day you couldn't even smell it. But on warmer days, you could catch a slight smell of it. The weather was continuing to get warmer so I decided to order more. Turns out that the manufacturer suggests using at least three bags. I only ordered two cause I was reluctant to spend the money if it didn't work as stated. But they are so worth the money. Google research says the the decomp time for a rat is about three weeks. Well I would have gone insane smelling that puke producing stink for that long. I barely made it through the few days it took to get these earth bags in. As long as you follow directions these will work. The manufacturer also has a video to watch. I needed up with four bags, that dead rat ended up costing me a bit of money, but being able function normally in my house was worth it.
