The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends measuring the temperature rectally in children up to 3 years of age when fever is suspected.

Normal Temperature Range for Oral Measurement
Normal temperature range when taking temperature measurement by Oral Measurement is 35.5°C to 37.5°C (95.9°F to 99.5°F)
Normal Temperature Range for Rectal Measurement
Normal temperature range when taking temperature measurement by Rectal Measurement is 36.6°C to 38°C (97.9°F to 100.4°F)
Normal Temperature Range for Underarm Measurement
Normal temperature range when taking temperature measurement by Armpit Measurement is 34.7°C to 37.3°C (94.5°F to 99.1°F)
* Please read the product manual carefully before using. Results will vary by Individual and method used. Start measuring when you see “Lo℉”. to ensure an accurate result, do not touch the probe with your hands or other objects with high temperature before taking your temperature
Temperature Accuracy
Turn on the thermometer, wait till it displays "LO" then place securely to take temperature reading. Do not start reading until thermometer completes self test and displays "LO". This ensures accuracy and timeliness.
Be sure to keep thermometer firmly in place under arm or under tongue if using oral or underarm measurement.

This is a decent thermometer! So far no major issues I can report. I would say it’s seemingly accurate since I’m only going off other thermometers where the readings were all over the place. This one seems to be consistent. I like that it comes in a clear case to keep it safe. A couple reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars - 1. The button is a little annoying. You have to apply more pressure when turning it on and it’s slightly uncomfortable on your finger. 2. There’s little to no sound when the reading is complete. Overall, I’m satisfied with it!

This thermometer is a waste of money. I purchased it because I have an ear one, and those aren't the best ones to use. My kid had a fever that was confirmed at the doctor (100.6F). I bought this right after and retook the temp at home and it was 96.0F. I didn't expect it to be the exact same, but it should NOT be several degrees off. I took the temp several times, thinking it wasn't under the tongue correctly, and kept getting 95-96F.

It’s definitely worth the money! It works great and fast. Hospital always recommends to take temperature under the armpit for accurate reading and this is wonderful and easy to use.

From the moment I bought it, I didn’t think much about how slow my original thermometer was - After all if I am sick what else am I going to do but wait a full 60+ seconds for my temperature to read - until I had a baby, a baby with a fever. It’s 2am, she’s feverish and unhappy, and now I need to stick the thermometer in the to get a temp. 60 seconds has never seemed so long until I was there holding my daughters legs in the air trying to stop her from practicing her new step dance hobby while making sure the thermometer is in enough, but not too far. It was then I reached out to my trusty friend, Siri, and instantly ordered a new, quick read thermometer. This was the one I happened upon and it has been a dream. It’s quick to take the temp, easy to read, and quality made. Balancing the step dancing child and a thermometer is no longer a fear thanks to this thermometer
