It became immediately apparent to me after only a few readings that the device was unreliable both on the forehead and in the ear. Very wide variation in readings with many as much as 20 degrees in error. The instructions say to hold 1-3 cm from your forehead. I rigged up a wooden stirring stick so that I could accurately and repeatedly hold it 2 cm from my forehead (see photo). Here are the results of 14 readings: 96.4, 77.4, 92.8, 78.7, 79.6, 77.5, 80.3, 79.8, 97.0, 75.3, 96.5, 97.5, 79.9, 74.3. I'm returning it.

When my go-to consumer group reviewed this Alcedo thermometer, it was the incentive I needed to move from the oral style to this no-touch style with its several features: "measures in 1 second; stores the last 20 readings, silent mode; automatic switch-off'; F/C mode; uses 2 AAA batteries (included); carry bag; instructions.

This is my first non-contact thermometer so I was a little confused on how to use it. So press the button once to turn it on if it is off, then press the button a second time for one second then release holding it 1-2 inches away from your forehead, then after a second it should beep showing the temperature.Don't hold the button down for too long. just follow my advice.On the side you will find the rest of the control buttons, the icons are very intuitive and the device is very easy to operate.

So glad I selected this! After hours (slight exaggeration) of looking for the right one, I found the Alcèdo. I can check the temp touchlessly in the ROOM, the BATH, my CUP, and in ME. Provides a secure grip and is designed so your thumb has easy access to controls. No kids in this house, but has the ear probe option as well. I would recommend this thermometer to my best friend.

This thermometer works exactly as advertised. I don’t have any complaints about it. It lies perfectly in your hand and measures the temperature quickly in less than a second. It comes in a nice pouch so you can store it without worrying that the display gets scratched or anything. The display is easy to read. Maybe not the cheapest option out there but certainly excellent quality. I didn’t experience any large differences in readings like some of the other reviewers. Maybe 0.1 degrees or so but not more.

A primo impatto funziona bene ed é di buona fattura, ottimo rapporto qualitá prezzo. Provato e le temperature sono pressoché uguali, basta salerlo usare correttamente. Comodo in quanto é sia per fronte che per orecchio. Consigliato.

With COVID around for the foreseeable future, I decided that having a faster way to take my temperature before I go out would be helpful. This does the job, and at a good price. Results display in maybe a second. Removing the outer cover automatically puts the unit in ear mode. In forehead mode, the closer the tip to the forehead, the greater the accuracy. Pressing a button with the cover on switches between adult and infant forehead modes and surface mode. With the cover off, pressing the button will switch between adult and infant modes. Another button switches between Celsius and Fahrenheit. Compared against a digital oral thermometer I’ve used for some time, this tends to run about half a degree warmer. I have no way of knowing which device is more accurate, but this certainly works well enough to tell me if I’m running a fever.

I was gifted a Braun brand ear thermometer at my baby shower that worked OK but was looking for something a little more consistent. This works just as good. Both thermometers will give you different readings minutes apart. The readings are normally off by a degree or two, so that speaks to 4/5 stars for accuracy/consistency isn't really there. It is very easy to use and its awesome that it can be used multiple ways and even has different settings for child/adult. However, the directions were a bit confusing and do not necessary match. Especially for the different settings. Overall, not a big deal, it is easy enough to figure out.
