This OBD power adapter is very useful to keep my dashcam powered even when the car is off & in parked mode. The dual-port USB-A with power output at 5V 3A is more than sufficient to power both my front and rear dashcams, including a GPS attachment.I also really like that it has multiple presets to prevent battery over-drainage and timer settings to provide power to the connected devices. To prevent battery over drainage, there are three auto-cutoff settings: L @ 11.6V, M @ 11.8V, and H @ 12V. For timer setting, there's a mode for cutting power (after car is turned off) at 10 min and 3 min, as well as an option to provide 24-hour power supply. These settings are very useful if you don't drive your car regularly.

I was reluctant to trust this, but all in all it's worked as promised!Under normal circumstances, my car's battery did NOT drain beyond reason. I have a battery gauge installed and the lowest it's dropped to was 12.5V (before start) from a normal of 13.9V (engine off) and 14.2V running. I keep mine set to turn off after a while to preserve the car's battery. At worst, it's set to cut power to the camera if the battery drops below a pre-set limit.I really didn't think it would be this easy, but it does what it claims and I can now have a dashcam that captures events when I'm NOT driving too!

This is a great option if you want a dashcam (or other device) to remain powered after you shut off your vehicle. With the voltage protection options and three different time options, it's flexible enough to allow one to set things for their particular needs. While I've used it for a dashcam, it's useful for other cameras, too.For further possibilities, one can also employ a 5v relay powered by the USB to switch a larger current-use device, such as a GMRS or ham radio. Use the relay to switch that battery-direct power needed for 50W radios, but time it with this device. This works perfectly, so you don't forget to turn off the radio, while also allowing the radio to power down more like other devices in modern cars that have delayed power-off.The only reason I dinged a star is that the construction is a little lower quality than I would prefer, but I have experienced no issues.

This ODB adapter is awesome, it allows me to power my dash cam while I'm parked so I can get alerts from my dashcam while out shopping or eating out. I usually unplug it at home since I park in my garage.

The unit, while lighter than I expected, seems to be made well enough. The fit to the OBD port on my car was perfect. The unit only has a few of the OBD pins (4, 5, 16). I guess the location of your car’s OBD port should be considered (so that this unit will be hidden and out of the way when plugged in).I installed this to power a screen (typically drawing 0.5A at 5V). I had the “V” (low voltage protection) setting as “H” (cut power if Power to the screen was cut at a little over 3 minutes (close enough) when the car was turned off, as expected. Opening and closing the car door within that 3 minutes seemed to elongate the time (expected). However, unplugging and re-plugging the screen after power had been cut turned the power back on. This seems counter-intuitive to me… if the power was off, I would have expected it to stay off. I presume this was related to the “if the car is hit, moved, the door are opened or closed” situation described on the unit’s Amazon page.I can see that the behaviour described makes sense for a dash cam (which you want to activate when something happens to the car). For other types of device you typically just want the device on when the car is running, and off when the car is off. With that in mind, it would have been useful to be able to configure the device to cut off immediately when the car stops, and not come on until the car starts again. So, I would recommend this unit if used to power a dashcam, but not for other devices.

Perfect always-on power solution for the dash cam and cellular booster accessories.Easily installed and easy to route cables up the side posts....The most notable beneficial feature of this adapter is it's battery voltage monitoring to ensure disconnecting before the battery depletes. In the case of the cellular booster, I have added an online switch to turn on the booster only when needed. But the dash cam gets always-on power as long as the battery is above 12.0 v ( 1 of 3 settings).

This OBD power adapter is a simple and great way to enable parking mode for a dash cam without messing with fuses or wiring. Even with wiring diagrams things can go sideways for no reason at all once you start cutting factor wires....plus they frown upon that when you have a problem and go in for warranty service. Setup is quick—just plug it into the OBD port and you're good to go.I really like the adjustable battery drain shut-off, especially in winter when I don’t want to risk a dead battery. It powers two USB devices at once, which is handy, and leaves the original 12V outlets free. Not that I use them for much other than for an adaptor for a phone. The only minor issue is that the lead wire needs a spot to tuck in under the dash, but I have lots of clips, tape etc,Overall, it's well-built, compact, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. A little pricey, but a much quicker and reasonably priced option for keeping a dash cam running.

Okay quality, but it does work as expected and I'm glad to be able to use this to power my dashcam so that it works while my car is off as well as while it's on.

It provides an easy source of constant power with no wiring required. It's a great way for a fast strt while waiting to see if more permanent wiring is needed or desired.

I purchased this to run front/back cameras. I wanted something that would let the cameras run for a couple hours and then shut of and prevent the battery from running down, putting the vehicle in deep sleep. This worked perfectly.

I’ve installed many dashcams for my family and friends’ cars over the years. One significant issue I’ve faced is the inadequate length of the power cable that comes with the dashcam. Additionally, I couldn’t enable the parking monitoring feature because the power would be cut off when the car was turned off. This OBD power cable effectively addresses both these issues. Firstly, since the OBD port is usually positioned near the steering wheel, it’s much shorter to connect to the front windshield where I installed the dashcam. Secondly, the OBD port can provide continuous power, and this cable is cleverly designed to cut off the power when necessary to prevent battery drain. After using this cable for weeks, I can confidently say that it functions as expected. In conclusion, I highly recommend this OBD power cable.
