About Capacity:
Hard disk vendors are using decimal arithmetic: 1MB = 1000KB, 1G = 1000MB calculated But the operating system is using binary arithmetic: 1MB = 1024KB, 1GB = 1024MB. So there are some differences between display capacity and nominal capacity of hard disk products. However, this is allowed to exist. Please do not doubt his authenticity.

Do not buy this product unless you’re really hard pressed for storage or need something shorterm.Build quality sucks, the bottom is some cheap plastic and it’s pretty light.The cable and port are ancient, I mean I’m talking before the “mini usb” and it feels like it’s going to push the port inside everytime you plug it in.Im a lil bit broke at the moment, so this will do for the time being, I mean it works but at what cost, 20 bucks. but to all the uneducated mothers who’re going to try and buy this for their children’s Xbox or gaming pc and such, invest in a sandisk external ssd, it has much better build quality and will last way longer than thisThe download speeds are HORRENDOUS

One of the problems with buying an external drive on Amazon is that there are so many 'fake' hard drives being sold. So when I saw a 500 gb external hard drive for $23.00 I was of course very skeptical. However, when I got the drive I tried several tests on it. First I checked the properties. It said that this was a 500 gb hard drive with 465 gb available. Well I know from past experience that the file info can be compromised. So I ran 'list disk' from the command line and got the same answer. But I still was not convinced. So I created a transfer of data from my computer to the external hard drive. I transferred 235 gb of data using Tera Copy software. This will tell you about problems you may encounter with file transfers and will check the quality of the transfer. Well, surprise me! All the data transferred. I even opened several folders and ran the data to see that it actually transferred. I also unplugged the drive and then plugged it back in. I have found that with some drives, it will look like the data has transferred, but, when you plug the drive back in, the data is nowhere to be found. I saw all the data and checked on it and it ran. Whoop-de-do.

This was an inexpensive external hard drive. I don't need a whole ton of storage but a rather moderate amount. It's no larger than a pack of thin cigarettes, copied all my data accurately. very decent product for not a lot of money
