Two Years Later (11/2022).... I am finally getting around to writing a review of this item. It's a good thing though, because I can now report that this thing is awesome. It has held up incredible well (minus the plastic base, which still functions but looks very dingy, cut-up, scratched, etc...). We constantly have it in the dishwasher (top rack only) and haven't noticed it dull or rust or anything of that nature. No cracks yet, the center metal ring is still welded on. Doing fine. Would purchase this item again. In fact, I purchased one for a family member almost a year ago and it sounds like that one is working great as well.

Saw an old review of this on America's Test Kitchen and bought it. It does not disappoint. Cuts cleanly, comes out easily.

I like that this gives you thinner slices and the bottom pops the apple ALL THE WAY through the chopper. Great little tool!!

Love this thing! The slices it creates are the perfect size. It has a platform the apple sits on that creates a clean slice all the way through. Very sturdy, easy to clean. An apple, small squeeze of lemon and a couple teaspoons of cinnamon make a great snack.

This cuts apples into 16 slices... the right size for snacking. But I like big Granny Smith apples, and this just isn't robust enough to get through big apples.I ended up throwing this away and replaced it with one with side rails.

After reading all of the reviews about how this thing is difficult to use and requires an unreasonable amount of force to slice through an apple, I thought I would be returning it. Just the opposite! I love this thing! I especially like how the pieces are small and easier to eat.I think the problem other people might have had was that they did not get the apple centered properly. If it is not centered the apple will hit the outer ring of this thing and just be stuck. However, if it is good and centered it is reasonably easy to cut!

I got this for dehydrating apples for family and friends. Overall I like the product a lot, but after using it for a couple a couple of months (estimated, on about 75 apples) there are a few issues with the design.Pros: it works and saves a lot of time. The metal blades (essentially welded razor blades) have held up so far without breaking, even with the amount of force required to push through the average apple (it requires some body weight). No mishaps with cuts to fingers. The product is sturdy and even though I couldn't find guidance on using a dishwasher, the blade portion held up without issue in the dishwasher. I hand wash the plastic guide. The plastic material looks like it might melt. The blades don't show any rust yet.The cons: the plastic guide is slightly misaligned with the blades. Even when you align it with the arrows, it's nearly impossible to get the blades to push through exactly with the guide. The guide is essential if you don't want to smash your fingers, risk bad cuts, break or damage the blades, and be able to slice through an apple easily and safely. Given the amount of force required to push through an apple, that leads to inevitable damage to the plastic guide, which clearly isn't going to hold up, long-term. It is also leading to dulling and slight nicks (so far) in the blades. It may lead to the blades breaking in the future. I'll update if that happens.Overall it's currently working and I'm pretty satisfied with the functionality, but I don't expect this to last for more than a few hundred apples.
