Product Description

Important Note:  Almost ALL furnace filters have a different "actual size" than the nominal size printed on the air filter. It's best if you measure your air filter for the EXACT size and compare it to our "Actual Size". With the 4" and 5" air filters there is a wider variance between the nominal and actual size depending on the manufacturer. If you are replacing a 4 3/8 depth 16x20x4 filter in your Honeywell unit you should order our 16x20x5 Honeywell Replacement air filter that measures 15 7/8 x 19 3/4 x 4 3/8 (15.88x19.75x4.38).
Nordic Pure 16x20x4 Pleated Air Filters MERV 12 are made of electrostatically charged synthetic materials that attract and capture most airborne particulates in your home. All Nordic Pure pleated air filters are manufactured using a heavy duty, moisture resistant beverage board frame. There is a metal mesh support grid bonded to the pleats for extra support. MERV 12 furnace air filters are comparable to HVAC filters with the rating of MPR 1500-1900. This high-performance HVAC replacement filter will help keep your air conditioning and heating systems running efficiently, saving money on utilities and costly maintenance.  It is important to regularly change your furnace air filters especially during any home improvements for fresh, clean air in your home or office. We recommend that you change your air filter every 3-6 months to maintain maximum efficiency and economy.

For anyone posting a review that these filters don’t fit correctly, you’re most likely needing to purchase Honeywell filters which are exact measurement for 16x20x4. Most others are a bit smaller (like these) for normal 4” media filter racks.

The filter said 16x20x4 in the advertising, on the packaging and on the product but in actuality was smaller than these dimensions. The product seemed generic and nowhere on the product did it show that it was Merv 12 or the manufacturer name. Looks like a scam item. They are useless as they don’t properly fit in my furnace.

What can you say about a filter? Honestly, the only time that you think about them is if they are not working properly. I guess you have to consider the dimensions when you change it. These are a perfect fit for our HVAC apparatus. And they seem to offer Ideal filtration when changed on a regular basis. Best part ever is the fast delivery, so I do not have any excuses for not keeping those filters fresh.

Good if you’re going to immediately use but you’ll want to cover them if storing.

We love this brand and use only this brand. It's a great quality and fits perfectly. It is a great choice because it's easy on the pockets. It has a nice Merv rating. Super easy to install but that has to do with my furnace but overall a great value for what you're getting

First time replacing the filter at this house. Couldn't find this size at local hardware stores. This was $18.50 when I got it. Price shot up to $65 now. Funny enough looks exactly like my old one.Only way I could tell it was Merv 15 was marking on the box it shipped in. It's not marked anywhere on the filter itself. Would buy again if the price goes back down

Comme il est spécifié 6-Piece, je croyais bien en recevoir 6, mais il n’y en avait que 2 dans la boîte.Est-ce une erreur de votre part ou c’est moi qui comprends mal?Sinon, excellent produit.

Conditions: a multispeed updraft furnace with an A/C coil and an air exchanger, two cats, central vacuum, and our ductwork has been professionally cleaned every couple years. Our ductwork was originally built to take just a single 16 X 20 X 1" filter. We have our furnace blower set to run on medium low for constant circulation, medium high for heat and high for A/C. I tried everything from cheap MERV 7 Store Brand filters to washable to expensive Filtrete Allergan filters to control dust. The cheap filters and the washable filters all let too many fine particles pass through undeterred, the expensive filters began to restrict airflow dramatically after just a couple weeks. After speaking to a reputable mechanical contractor I followed their advice and modified the ductwork to take a 4" thick filter. This worked much better with a 4" filter lasting over 6 months before it started to restrict airflow. After studying the used filter it became obvious that what I needed was a prefilter to remove the coarse particles and cat hair before the main filter. I opened up my ductwork one more inch and added the washable WEB ECO filter I had previously purchased. This is a great combination I just rinse the washable filter once a month when I rinse the air exchanger filters, takes about two minutes. The MERV 15 Nordic Pure filter is going to last at least a year in this configuration happily catching most every particle that gets through the washable filter. We have black granite on our counters and hearths and since I hit on this combination dust and dusting have disappeared. So excellent performance at a low ongoing cost, now that is a value proposition.Update April 2017: See additional photos below after using this single 4 inch filter for 18 months in combination with a washable filter it was finally indicating a restriction of about .5 inches of water vs about .2 inches of water when brand new. In comparison on my system a high MERV Filtrete would start out about .3 inches of water but be over an inch of water in less than a month. I posted some additional pictures and while the filter element is now a uniform gray I can still see light through it. It is also apparent the filter has been catching just small particles with the gross dust going down the drain when the washable is cleaned.

This filter has a MERV 13 rating which they equate to an MPR rating of 2200. That means this filter is comparable in performance to the Filtrete Premium Healthy Living series air filters. The construction is comparable as well, with a cardboard scaffold on the intake side and a wire mesh scaffold on the furnace side for structural support. The pleats fit snugly against the inner cardboard frame, although they are not sealed to the cardboard frame with caulk/glue.Note that the filter size in the title is not the actual size but the size that the furnace would generally list as the required filter size. The actual filter dimensions are given in the product information. Finally, a word of advice on filter sizes: Always purchase the thickest filter your furnace can accept! If your furnace can accept either 1" or 2" filters, always purchase a 2" filter! Why? Because with pleated air filters the surface area of the filter media is greatly increased as you increase thickness, while the cross-sectional area remains the same. This means that air resistance is significantly reduced with larger filters sizes, leading to improved air flow and increased filter lifetime. With MERV 2 filters this makes no difference because those filters are generally see-through and merely protect the furnace components instead of actually filtering the air. However, the air resistance generated by MERV 13 filters is significantly higher, and therefore if you can get a thicker filter you absolutely should. Our furnace technically only accepts 1" filters, but it's designed in such a way that we can just lay the 4" filter on top of the intake and it works fine. Air flow has never been better and since I have allergies the MERV 13 filter media helps a lot.Another tip: If you have issues with food or pet odors, cigarette smoke, etc. and MERV 13 media does not reduce it to acceptable levels, you can find some very cheap cut-to-size carbon prefilter media on this site and others and simply lay this over your pleated filter media, securing it if needed. This is an effective and CHEAP way to get rid of household odors.
