I honestly use this as my go-to hammer for smithing. It has a nice handle and I thought it would be too light, but it works well and I can strike with a lot of accuracy. The rounding face is very satisfying to use as you can see where the metal moved with every strike. The flat face needs some work as the edges are very hard and if you do not swing perfectly square to your work, you will leave a mark. The edges need to be rounded off a little (someone else mentioned that too in these reviews) and it is a great hammer. The face seems a little soft, so while it is good on hot metal, use another hammer for your tools. The back of my chisel left a mark on the face!

I am a beginner to amateur smith and I have been shopping awhile for a good quality hammer. I restrain from purchasing a fiberglass handle and opted to find one with wooden handles. With that I found Nordic hammer. First, the hammer head is beautifully made and does indeed weigh approx 2 pounds. Yes you will need to dress the hammer to get it smithing ready as with most manufactured hammers, however what really turned me off was the quality of handle used.I’m not expecting much but the handle was that of a very porous and splinter ready handle. After a couple swings I dropped my hummer as tiny splinters were embedding in my hand. For the price I paid for a hammer, I expected that the wood would be of greater quality and not prone to splintering. To put bluntly, the woods feeling in the hand was similar to that of an old park playground benchFor this I would give it 2.5 starts but hammer head is still reasonably good so it jumps up to 3 stars.Nordic hammer please use better handles and not skimp out on the wood, I want to recommend this brand but until then I am going to refrain from further recommendation.

This hammer is nice for the money. You can spend $200 on a hammer but this one works well for me.

Overall, very nice hammer. rounding side works well, feels very nice in the hand, for a better price than most other similar hammers.I might dress the flat side a little (face is good, sides are a tad sharp and leave marks if I'm not carefull, but I'm pretty sure that's mostly user error on my part.)Some other reviews have mentioned the head coming off. I've banged with mine for a bit now, and the head is still very firmly attached.
