This product is a companion filter to be utilized in between an antenna and a version 4 Software Defined Radio USB dongle or with your own customized Ham radio setup. This filter distinctly isolates the radio spectrum and fine tunes the reception to 1420.40 Mhz where observations have found that hydrogen atoms from extremely distant galaxies in the sky randomly send photons through space which then produce a noticeable 10 hz, RF spike to occur upon their arrival. This special kind of energy is referred to as Hydrogen Line based upon the constant fluctuation and shortness within the RF spectrum of this oddity.Amateur observations have found that connecting this device to a 1.9 or 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi Parabolic Dish can be a cheap and easy method of easily fine tuning the reception of this signal to achieve greater results. This product contains printed instructions on the circuit board to it's connections, an external power supply is required for use of this product through the included USB port or soldering on leads. Power must be at minimum 3.3 Volts but not greater than 5 Volts. Connections included on device are male SMA. This can be used with generation 4 NoElec SmarTee dongles, however generation 3 or before models will require isolating the power from external power supply on this device with an additional DC block inline SMA connection also sold by NoElec, or by wiring in a low distortion capacitor to buffer in the power draw before the receiver.

This electronic device is very fragile, not sure why Amazon didn’t put it in a box to protect it. I am going to test it soon and see if it works or not.

It basically has filter between two LNRs. My daughter used it in radio telescope project to acquire HI signal from MilkWay. Very easy to use and saved tens of dollars compared with the recommended mini-circuits LNR. The blueprint of the project was based on Harvard university poster: A low-cost 21 cm horn-antenna radio telescope for education and outreach.

Excellent module. Avec SDR Console V3, Gain VGA 30 et quelques réglages sur le paramétrage, on voit bien les raies hydrogenes sur les sources les plus émissives. Super produit !
