About this item

  • Flamingo+ FM (Flamingo FM v2) is a high attenuation bandstop filter designed to stop very strong broadcast FM transmissions from causing overload and other issues with your radio or SDR
  • The attenuation level of this filter is much higher than Flamingo FM v1 (>60dB typical avg. & >70dB typical max attenuation). We recommend this filter for urban environments and other locations with high-wattage FM transmitters nearby. For other locations, Flamingo FM v1 is a better option
  • Flamingo+ FM has a higher attenuation than other similar commercial filters, while also have a lower insertion losses outside of the stop band (<0.25dB avg.) and less of an effect on the adjacent VHF airband of 108MHz-137MHz (8dB avg. attenuation vs 16dB avg. of similar filters)
  • Designed and manufactured by Nooelec in North America, with a full 2-year product warranty

Not everyone needs this, but if you're in a metro area it might just save you. I was using a SAWBIRD NOAA and it would work sometimes, but most of the time I was swamped out by FM signals. I thought I had a frequency drift issue, but no, it was just OOB reception. Installing this filter between the antenna and the SAWBIRD amplifier really did the trick for rejecting the strong FM signals. My station works perfectly now.

Den gör sitt jobb väldigt bra, hela FM-bandet dämpas ordentligt vilket är väldigt positivt.

My experience with the Flamingo FM Broadcast Bandstop Filter v2 showed no improvement. It's conceivable that something else is causing the interference instead of FM band waves, or the one I received is ineffective.

Now I'm able to use my SDR dongle to tune into aircraft comms and other frequencies without them being overwhelmed by the local FM stations!

Worked great for blocking FM signals on my SDR.

I live 6 miles from the TV and FM transmitters on Lookout Mountain near Golden, Colorado. My SDRPlay radio couldn't receive much on 2-meters or the aircraft band because of the strong signals coming from those stations through my discone antenna overloading the SDR receiver. Adding this filter in front of the antenna input made it possible to receive aircraft (108-137 MHz and the 2-meter ham band (144-1148MHz). Recommended!

Antes de mais é importante referir de que se trata de um acessório de pequenas dimensões, querendo com isto dizer que, os componentes utilizados para a construção do filtro são de reduzido tamanho, SMD.Produto com qualidade

I'm in the middle of the city, with a big mountain in front of me where all the city antennas are located, so all my reception includes some sort of comercial band FM interference, but with this filter I'm able to mitigate the problem, no at 100% because I have a radio station 3 blocks away, but with the rest of the RF spectrum works very wellI really recommend connect this filter next to your SDR hardware using the connector included, I connected mine using a 20 cm cable with SMA Male to Male connectors and is more than enough to inyect FM interference again in the line, I was about to ask for a refund but it was my fault at first place

The Nooelec NESDR FM bandstop v2 is a good notch filter, but compared to the RTL-SDR FM bandstop in my area it just does not filter out some of the strong FM signals. Several strong FM stations are not filtered out in the upper 100+ MHz frequencies and this impacts the reception of aviation frequencies I am trying to listen to. Below the 100 MHz frequencies it does the same job as the RTl-SDR FM bandstop. It is still a good bandstop just get both to see which is better in your area first.

This well made FM band stop filter solved my problem when Radio Amor 100.3 FM overloaded my SDR transceiver.100.3 FM's 14.5kW of power 10 miles away was blocked by the filter. Success! The filter is labeled with input and output sides, which means that you should use it with the antenna connected to input. I tested the filter, and as you can see by the pictures, the filter is not directional and you can use it in either orientation. Since the filter is bidirectional, I use it in a QRP transciever and have transmitted 5W SSB and CW.I'm not sure I would do this with more than 10W, but for 5W it works great.I like it and recommend it.

I have a Uniden SDS 100 and 200 with a Discone antenna 30 feet above my house. I do not live in a city but I am near one. Receiver desensitivity is a insidious issue as you cannot tell it is happening. I have some other notch filters and FM broadcast will still blast thru (I’m looking at you Jim M75!) But this filter completely filters them out. Now my scanners pick many more weak signals and Air works perfectly. I highly recommend this filter and it has good build quality too.
