I was trying to figure out why the base of this had a little hole punched in it, and then, as I was putting it away for the first time, I realized it was probably to put a bit of string or a twist tie, to attach the base to the rim. Nice touch (maybe one on each side would be better?)The pan is solidly built, and the nonstick appears to be silicone not teflon. Good. The base isn't liquid-tight on the rim, so this is really only for things that have a dough crust. NTTAWWT.

We have a selection of tart pans but they're all plain aluminum - none are nonstick, and while they're great at tarts they are a bear to clean. This Chicago Metallic tart pan is 10 1/2" round at the base and 1" deep with a removable bottom to make getting the tart out easy. The material is heavier than our older tart pans but it's not as solid feeling as the round and square pans with the rolled lips. The outer ring and base each have a single small hole one one side. Our other pans don't have this and honestly we're perplexed at what they might be for.Because this is a nonstick pan you need to avoid using scouring pads and sharp utensils that will damage the surface. They claim dishwasher safe but you're really just inviting rust if you do that. Stick to hand washing and air drying and this pan will last a very long time.Full disclosure: we have yet to try a tart in it since we don't eat them all that often so I can't say how the nonstick coating will affect browning the crust but I have high hopes! I'll update the review if it doesn't work as well as our old ones.

I have three of these: 9", 10", and now this 11" pan. They nest, so having all three does not take up much space at all. Most quiche and tart recipes call for one of these three sizes. With all three, I never have to figure out any adjustments, I just grab the right size. No more wasting batter by using less to fill a smaller pan, no more trying to figure out how to stretch out dough to make it across a bigger pan.I hand wash and hand dry these pans. Doing that insures that they won't rust. The pans are pretty resilient - the flat bottom of mine got bent, but it was really easy to make it flat again.

This tart pan is just the right size to make one of those delicious fresh fruit summer tarts. There's enough room to create a design using slices of kiwi, strawberries, blueberries, and more. Of course, this can be used for any number of tarts, including savory ones. The nonstick finish is even. The removeable bottom has the same finish on both sides. So if one side gets scratched up or damaged, I can flip it over and still use the other side. The pan feels sturdy and doesn't bend when filled.11” in diameter, and 1” thick, as advertised

Chicago Metallic is one of those dependable brands that I count on. And I really like their 11-inch Non-Stick Quiche/Tarte Pan. However, I do have one major complaint. And it's too common with products advertised as 'dishwasher' safe. The 'use & care' directions say: This product is dishwasher safe. However, hand washing is recommended to extend product life. DO NOT use dishwasher detergent tablets/capsules. The concentrated cleaners will damage the nonstick finish on bakeware.Unlike a pie pan, a tart part should have a removable bottom and be fairly sturdy. The Chicago Metalic tart pan is a heavy gauge carbon steel pan with a removable bottom. It is non-stick but not dishwasher safe.

Chicago Mettalic makes great, affordable bakeware. The feature of the removable bottom makes this the one to buy!If you are going to the extra effort to make a tart, you wouldn't want to have it stick, or fall apart. I've had a 100% track record with Chicago Mettalic pans and this one is not different. The fluted edges can make cleaning more work, but the finish will turn out a perfect crust and all thats left may be some oil residue.DO NOT PUT IT IN THE DISHWASHER. Simply hand wash with a soft soapy cloth and rinse thoroughly. Dry completely before storing. You'll have this to create your special tart recipe for decades to come.Watch your temperature and/or time, though! The trade mark dark finish cooks faster!ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED!!

I’m a real fan of Chicago Metallic pans. They’re very fit for purpose, sturdy, easy to clean, and long-lived; in fact, I don’t think I’ve ever decided a Chicago Metallic pan was worn out. The instructions with this pan say it can go in the dishwasher but should not be exposed to dishwasher detergent, so I’m not sure what the point of putting it in the dishwasher would be. When I cook, I always have a few odds and ends that need hand-washing anyway (sharp knives and so forth), so with the pan’s nonstick finish, it’s no problem to wash it by hand. It’s well finished, nice and smooth, and I find the weight and the gray color help the crust get just the right shade of brown. I highly recommend this pan if you have fall apple tarts or a quiche on your menu.

I love to gift this with a tart cookbook. Works for breakfasts, dinners, desserts, entertaining, appetizers. We love to do tarts and they are a beautiful addition to any potluck so once you get hooked you make them more and more!Great pan, perfect size, spray with non-stick spray and you will have zero effort. You may not even need the spray but I use it for extra insurance of release.I am a professional chef
