In a word, adding a filter must be better than no filter. The biggest effect of the filter is to improve the stability of the equipment and prolong the service life of the equipment.

I used this in front of my 120v vfd. Works fine and keeps the electrical interference out of the rest of my system.

It only takes one look at this to realize it's not really rated for 20A. Tiny little nuts and screws, too small for 20A solid wire. This is a fire waiting to happen.

I got this to put in a custom line filter for my system. Worked fine when connected to AC line, no change in waveform (little EMI present to begin with). I measured inductance, capacitances, and resistor and they match schematic. Resistance is around 0.13 ohm for each side.
