Product Description

NH-D12L chromax.black header

The NH-D12L chromax.black is an all-black version of Noctua’s award-winning NH-D12L low-height 120mm class CPU cooler that has been conceived to combine outstanding quiet cooling performance with superior case compatibility. At a height of only 145mm (13mm lower than Noctua’s regular 120mm models), it fits many 4U enclosures as well as narrower tower cases that have been previously limited to solutions with 92mm fans. At the same time, its five heatpipe dual-tower design and state-of-the-art NF-A12x25r 120mm fan allow it to achieve a level of efficiency that surpasses many full-height 120mm models. Thanks to its single-fan configuration and asymmetrical fin stacks, the NH-D12L provides 100% RAM compatibility on AMD AM5/AM4 and Intel LGA1851/1700/1200 by staying clear of the memory slots. Topped off with the renowned SecuFirm2 mounting system and Noctua’s award-winning NT-H1 thermal compound, the NH-D12L is the perfect choice for applications that require serious cooling performance but cannot fit the larger NH-U12A.

NH-D12L chromax.black

145mm height for broader case compatibility

While Noctua’s regular 120mm CPU coolers stand 158mm tall, the NH-D12L measures only 145mm. This allows it to fit not only a wide range of 4U rackmount server cases and many tower-style enclosures that are not wide enough for 158mm units, but also some larger Small Form Factor (SFF) and Mini-ITX chassis.

NH-D12L chromax.black

100% RAM compatibility on LGA1851/LGA1700 and AM4/AM5

Due to its asymmetric design, the NH-D12L does not overhang the RAM slots on Intel LGA1851/LGA1700/LGA1200 /LGA115x and AMD AM4/AM5 based motherboards, which ensures easy access to the modules and 100% compatibility with DIMMs that feature tall heat-spreaders or RGB lighting.

NF-A12x25 PWM chromax.black.swap sterrox

Round-frame NF-A12x25r PWM fan

Introduced in 2018, Noctua’s NF-A12x25 is widely considered to be the best 120mm fan on the market. The round-frame variant used on the NH-D12L provides the same renowned quiet cooling performance yet makes it possible to reduce overall cooler height without risking compatibility issues with tall motherboard heatsinks or shrouds.

NT-H1

NT-H1 thermal compound

Noctua’s much-acclaimed NT-H1 is a pro-grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease of use and outstanding reliability. Chosen again and again by overclockers and enthusiast users worldwide, it has established itself as a benchmark for premium-quality thermal compounds.

Top straconsiglio!!

Ordered this cooler/heatsink because I use them alot on servers as they fit the rack cases we use. Always a great product and they work well. The reason for the 1 star rating is that I paid good money for a NEW unit, but they sent me someone else's garbage return. The heatsink had compound all over it, even on the cooling tubes. But that's not the worst problem. When I opened the harware box, half the mounting hardware and screws were missing. I can clean the heatsink, but at this point this kit is useless. Now I have order another unit and waste another day or two to get this server finished. Hopefully the next one won't be garbage.QUIT SENDING USED RETURNS AS NEW PRODUCTS. IT IS DECEPTIVE AND BASICALLY IT'S FRAUD.

Easy to follow instructions but at the same time easy to misread. The notches the cooler attaches to should be highlighted better. Other than that its super quiet can't hear anything running. The thermal paste that comes with it...while it may be good....the applicator is a mess. It doesn't push the paste out in a drop fashion at all; instead it pushes it out in lines and not slow either. Had to clean up once and reapply. The second application wasn't much better. I did order different paste however they were delivered separately and I had the time today. It should be listed in the product description that it does come with thermal paste.

I installed this cooler onto my Asus strix z690e as it is the largest air cooler that fits without modifications onto my board due to large vrm design. I was replacing a deepcool lt520 as I get weary with AIO coolers and enjoy the reliability of air coolers, let me just say …. Wow ! The quality of the cooler , instructions and fans is superb , it is barely audible even when gaming and it keeps my 12700k around 60c in super demanding games. I am waiting for some extra fan clips fromNoctua to attach a second fan to the front for a push pull config but this is hands down the highest quality and best air cooler I have ever used.

I'm still running an i7 7700k. No overclock. It works good enough for me for now (waiting to see how Lunar Lake turns out in the next 6-8 months). Had an Intel TS15A cooler which was good enough 5-6 years ago. It has always given me about 90C temps under load. Recently started hitting 100c and throttling hard. Cleaned everything, still happened. Figured maybe it needed to be pulled and re-pasted. But then figured if I'm going through all that, I'll just upgrade the cooler. Went with the NH-D12L simply for the cost/performance ratio and not a size constraint. It's more than adequate for the 7700k.I pulled the Intel cooler off and the paste looked perfect. So I'm not really sure why the recent throttling. My case moves a ton of air. The only thing I can figure is it getting data faster from an NVMe drive upgrade.I put the Noctua on, reassembled, then put it under heavy load and haven't seen more than about 78C max temps. Plus the added benefit of much less fan noise.

I have a fairly high-end PC, which came with liquid cooling. I have never had good luck with liquid coolers as they always seem to fail after a year or two. That is exactly what happened again and I started having overheating issues. I have had Noctua’s in the past, and wanted another. After doing some research, I found that this was the guy that fits my motherboard. Installation was a little tricky on my motherboard as the back plate was glued on, but once I was able to finally remove that (which was a bit terrifying !), the Noctua was a super easy install. Fired her back up in the temps on all CPU’s dropped by over 40°F. Haven’t had a single overheat issue since and it has been months. Noctua makes some great products. This thing is so pretty that I feel like buying another to put it on the mantle as a conversation piece ! Attached pics show before and after temps in speedfan

Used as part of a sub-$1000 build using a micro-ATX motherboard in a Cooler Master Q300L case.Fitted beautifully - no interference with the case, RAM, M2 slots or PCIe-x16.Used with a lowish power AM4 processor, it keeps the CPU temp extremely low. It's very quiet. The $100 price is pretty reasonable. Can't think of a negative.

First time using a Noctua Heatsink, did not know what to expect. At first was worried about the Mounting procedure, but that was a bit easier once I read the instructions.Once it was on the Motherboard (MB), hand tightened without much force on last turns, added the fan back on Plugged it into the MB's CPU Fan header, and then installed everything else.Once I was able to get into Bios, for a heat stress test, turned off my other fans so only this heatsink was available, I let the system get warmer and warmer, so almost 58C, then connected my fans power back and maxed out the cooling in the Bios and in less than 1 minute, it went from 58C to 38C, so literally a 20 degree difference in mere moments.Though I do not recommend doing a heat stress test as that can damage PC parts, I just had to know what this Heatsink could do.I am actually quite happy, also a bonus is that even on full power, I did not hear that much noise, that is this heatsink and 5 Noctua Case fans all at maxed RPM's.The CPU I am using is a Ryzen 9 7950x, so wanted a really good Air Heatsink, and this product delivered.
