  • Enjoy precision charging - An integrated digital thermal sensor detects the ambient temperature and alters the charge to eliminate over-charging in hot climates and under-charging in cold climates.
  • Charge dead batteries - Charges batteries as low as 1-volt. Or use the all-new force mode that allows you to take control and manually begin charging dead batteries down to zero volts.
  • Restore your battery - An advanced battery repair mode uses slow pulse reconditioner technology to detect battery sulfation and acid stratification to restore lost battery performance for stronger engine starts and extended battery life.
  • Beyond maintenance - It's not just a battery trickle charger, it's an advanced battery charger maintainer. A fully-automatic, worry-free smart battery charger for everyday use - 24/7 - with zero overcharge.

I've used Schumacher SP1296 trickle chargers for many years now, on multiple vehicles and pieces of equipment. Recently I switched all of them to the NOCO GENIUS5 and it's better in every way!On all of the Schumacher chargers I've had, (and that's been a LOT of them) the cord has eventually frayed and broken where it exits the charging unit. On the NOCO, the cord has a rubber reinforcement where it exits the unit, extending the life of the cord. I've included photos of the NOCO (black) and the Schumacher (red) for reference. The Schumacher chargers I've had were dependable and functioned well, but their cord design was a major design flaw for me. Multiple times, It forced me to replace the units before I should have needed to buy new ones. The NOCO is slightly heavier and more compact in size than the Schumacher. The control has more functions and is easy to use. The NOCO display is aesthetically more pleasing and easier to read than the Schumacher. The NOCO also has an on/off switch which is nice. I always use the eyelets to connect to the battery. The charger connection to the eyelet cord has a click type plug to lock it in place, unlike the Schumacher which just presses together. Should you want to use the battery clips, the NOCO clips are bigger and stronger than those on the Schumacher. The only negative aspect of the NOCO that I found was that, according to their user manual, "This product is designed to work in ambient temperatures between -4°F and 104°F". This has not been a problem for me, even when used outside in northern Vermont. It does get below zero here, but typically not for extended periods of time. As long as the charger is kept on the battery, and it's always fully charged, that temperature limitation hasn't been an issue for me.Overall, the NOCO GENIUS5 appears to be a higher quality and better built charger than the Schumacher SP1296. I am very satisfied with their product, and I highly recommend it.

I have the NOCO battery jumper and it saved me a lot. This Noco charger is also one of the best investment if you have a car that you don't drive often or charge your dead battery. I have a few cars that I don't drive for weeks and it will not turn on, I have to jump it all the time and the amount I drive is not enough to charge the battery back. This charger will charge your dead battery right up and also maintain/topoff. I keep it plug in 24/7 on all of my cars. One of my car battery was at 11.4V it took 10 hours to fully charge to 12.6v

Don’t have experience with battery tenders/chargers, this is my first. But I can say very well built compact size. Intuitive setup.Using it to maintain my jeep wrangler AGM 70AH battery as I travel a lot don’t drive the car that much.Update:It has been amazing after few overnight charges the battery recuperated and seems to be back to its full swing. Starting the car now is seamless.

I've had this item for 2 years now. And I have to say it is one of the best purchases I've made. Background: I have a older car, that's kept outside here in toronto, The winter's here can be pretty bad. My car battery is not the greatest, and I found my battery was always draining. Constantly needed a jump. I looked at the big suitcase backpack looking ones, that CAA uses, then I saw this tiny noco. I'm glad I took the risk, it's paid for itself many times.Pros: it works. It's boosted my car, when the battery was completely dead.-The safety feature, meaning the electrics won't flow, if it's on the wrong positive or negative, was nice for those times when I was in a rush not paying attention-my model had a boost mode, so when I would activate it, it would force start my battery.-very quick. I always feel a little less than human, with people judging me when I have to jumpstart my car, I'm sure nobody cares, but I still feel a bit inadequate. This jump starts my car almost immediately.-this thing is tiny, I keep it in my glove box, it does what those huge jumper boxes that the professionals have, but since technology is so fantastic, they're able to make it so small but so powerful-I'm really impressed with the charge, I charged it once and it lasted over a year, with monthly use. I did recharge it just to be safe at the end of the first year. But I probably could have left it and it would have worked fine, there is a battery indicator as well.Cons: When I pull it out to help strangers restart their car, they look at me a little bit crazy thinking this little item can help. Then they ask me, where they can get one minutes later :)Recommendation:If you're someone who needs to jumpstart their car regularly, this thing is a lifesaver. Not only am I able to jumpstart my car when I need it fast and safely, I was able to help other strangers, simply because there wasn't a lot to hook up. It's a small unit and putting it on someone else's car, and jumping it takes a few minutes. I would 100% buy it again.

Update (2/15/23): Used this 5A Noco on my car battery the other day. The battery is 4 years old, and the car gets drive at most, once a week, so not ideal for battery health. Once a year (annually), I try to charge the battery. When I hooked it up, and ran it in normal charging mode, it quickly finished (within five minutes). I switched over to repair mode, which applies a small pulsing current, and ran it for two cycles (repair mode shuts off after 4 hours), so 8 hours total. Using a battery tester (measures battery resistance), the overall health improved after 8 hours. So the repair mode definitely does something different than the regular charging mode.Summary: I have had a NOCO Genius G3500 charger since 2017, and it's a great charger. Recently started building a solar/PV battery bank from old marine (Optima) bluetop deep cycle batteries. So the G3500 was getting a good workout, especially the repair function. So I will be comparing this next generation GEN5X1 in that role. I had ordered the GEN5X1 back in April 2021, and this past Black Friday, the GENIUS5 (5A) was on sale, so I decided to add that one. Also use the Kyzee Load Tester frequently while charging, so listing this that as well as a related product.Testing: On an old really dead Yuasa motorcycle battery. Impressively, it was at 3-4 volts, and the Noco started right up in regular (not repair) mode. Going to let this run a couple of days, and see where it ends up (not expecting it to revive this one).Recommendations: 1) In general, the slower you charge the battery the better it is for the overall longevity and lifespan of the battery. The trade off being that you might have to charge a really dead battery for a couple of days. For batteries less than 100AH (the Optima I was testing on is 55AH), a 5-AMP charger is a good middle ground. 2) Having a good battery tester is also a must, I can recommend either of the two below.Pros: Good fit & finish; repair function; name brand recognition; constant product improvement.Cons: None for now. Conclusion: At $70, rating this 5-stars. If you need onboard mounting, get the onboard model instead.Related Products:NOCO GENIUS5, 5-Amp Fully-Automatic Smart Charger ~ $70https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-GENIUS5-Fully-Automatic-Temperature-Compensation/dp/B07W8KJH44KZYEE KS20Pro Car Battery Load Tester ~ $100https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0822CN7K7NOCO Genius G3500 6V/12V 3.5A UltraSafe Smart Battery Charger ~ $47https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004LWVEKS
