Just finished building it and it feels way sturdier than expected! I have the queen size and I'm 6ft 250lbs so I was worried about the slats being under too much pressure. So far I feel perfectly comfortable rolling around on it with a lightweight mattress and not having to be too gentle with it.When it arrives in the mail it's basically a pile of cut and finished wood planks so it'll take a bit to build. It took me a little over an hour in between work meetings but it's neatly designed and was more fun than frustrating. Bonus points for the clear and concise instructions that even include a "Stop and evaluate this piece, its important" step.A drill would make the process faster but I had no issues with just a rubber mallet and a solid Phillip's screwdriver as it's mostly wood pegs and the provided screws are sharp and self tapping.I'll try to remember to update after sleeping on it for a while but 10/10 first impression.Update after 2 weeks-I'm sleeping great, it's still sturdy with multiple people, and switching between couch, lounge, and bed is quick and easy. The slats are pretty stiff and have sharp edges so if you have an extra thin mattress or futon it may get uncomfortable. Mine is roughly 3.5 inches of polyethylene foam, I'm pretty big, and still cozy as can be so you can use that as a reference.I would recommend grabbing some felt sliders if it's going on hardwood though. You'll be sliding it back and forth a bit when you switch modes but if it's going on carpet it's pretty much perfect out of the box.

Just $ to the air..I bought this frame/bed for the guest room. Where to start? It holds on literally on the hair pins. It’s wobbly, not aligned..it’s collapsed in the sitting/sofa position. It’s very heavy and very hard to change positions from sofa to bed. The space between bars are very big, so you would need to use a thick mattress, otherwise you will feel the bars. Our guest after 1 night decided to sleep on the floor, how it was painful to sleep on a medium mattress…there is no way to return it, the shipping cost is higher than the cost of the bed, so buyer beware. It is a faulty piece of furniture.

Great for sleeping and converts easily to the lounging position of your choice, very comfortable. Easy to assemble, nice smooth wood with a natural finish, feels sturdy and looks good . It is also wallet friendly. It feels good to get what you want and feel not a penny wasted.

I bought this bed for an unusual application: I put it in my van. I already had a mattress and wanted to be elevated off of the floor. This futon has a unique design that not only folds in a way that matches my mattress, I can manipulate it from just the front. All in all, the design works for me.The build quality is variable. Some pieces had rough edges and a few things were less than perfect. This is no way inhibited the build process and the quality of the product after it was built seems extremely adequate. The real win here is the design of the frame itself. It packs tight for shipping, assembles reasonably easily, and functions pretty darn well.If it were more expensive, I might give it a 4 for the imperfections. But the quality to price ratio is just fine. Five stars.

It has a unique design. I was very surprised. The directions were very easy to follow putting it together. It feels very sturdy. When putting the screws in I used an old carpenters trick of putting soap on the threads of the screws to make putting the screws in. Only took about 10 minutes to screw them all in with a power driver. All the holes for the dowels lined up perfectly. It is a bit low; about 10" from the floor--40" would have been better. When adjusting the the frame into the upright position the mattress moves forward; so it would be better if it had something to keep the mattress in place. Overall I really like it.

Have only had it for a week. So far the only complaint is that on one of the pieces, the holes for the wooden dowels are misaligned, so I will have to drill new ones in order to complete the assembly. Also, the screws are difficult to sink all the way in, so a good strong drill is needed. I have a lightweight battery drill and had to finish sinking the screws by hand. Other reviews have mentioned these issues, so I was prepared and knew it was not a problem with my work. I have been using the frame only as a bed so far, and it is stable, but a little low to the floor, which I also expected. I have not tried folding the frame into sitting or reclining position yet. I will try living with this frame for a while and update my review after a few months. My first impression is that my money was well spent on this product.1/3/18 - I drilled new holes for the pegs and screw on the piece that was mialigned and it went together pretty well. I also put the frame in the sitting/reclining position with no problem either pulling it up or laying it back down. However, in sitting position, it was far from the wall, so I had to slide the whole thing back toward the wall to gain the floor space I need. That was the whole point of buying a futon vs a regular bed. I would not say this unit is good for space-saving for that reason. On the plus side, I found the sitting/lounging position very comfortable compared to any other futon I've ever sat on. Right now, I have 2 4" pads stacked together until my real futon mattress arrives. I will update this review after seeing how well the frame performs with a proper futon on it.2/23/19 - After living with this frame for just over a year, I can say it is still sturdy and works well. It accommodates both my futon mattress and a thick memory foam topper well. I can shift it into sitting position without removing the memory foam, although it is heavy and bulky. The major drawback for me is that the frame folds the mattress from top to bottom, unlike most frames that fold side to side, and that makes it project further into the room. It is very comfortable, like a chair recliner, but not at all compact. If you have the space for that configuration, this is an excellent quality frame, and I can heartily recommend it.
