This battery gave new life to my 2016 HP laptop—$30 saved me from having to buy a whole new machine! While desktops may offer better performance depending on your needs, having a low-powered laptop is invaluable, especially for working with equipment that isn’t conveniently located near a desktop.Be sure to follow the break-in instructions carefully. To achieve full capacity, you’ll need to run the battery down to 0% five times. Once conditioned, it delivers an impressive 8 hours of battery life with average use.The battery itself is nearly identical to the original HP part it replaced, but at roughly half the price (especially since OEM HP batteries have been discontinued). It fits perfectly, meets or exceeds the original specifications, and has shown no signs of abnormal heat. If anything changes, I’ll update my review.Packaging was also excellent—the battery arrived securely in an air-cradle wrap, ensuring safe transit. If you're looking for a reliable replacement, this battery is a perfect fit for the specified model numbers.

For my HP's 240/245 G5, that HS04 batteries were amazing purchases. It fits perfectly and include same tech specs as advised the seller. May people don't read the instructions, but this manufacturer tell us you could gain best performance if you follow those instructions. It consists basically in charge your battery at least for 5 first times in 10% to grow up best performance. I proved that task and really works. Now, the NinjaBat Pro battery can run about between 6-7 hours with high loads like simulation, play or editing videos, programming, browsing, making offices docs, etc. Really it works amazing and you can enjoy it without worries. Highly recommended to you if you uses laptops everyday at least more than 10 hours per day. Reasonable price because it isn't just any battery on market, it has really nice performance to consider it to buy.

I could not follow the stated procedure for first use of the battery, because the battery did not have enough charge, but it still works, so I am not complaining too much. Otherwise, I would have given 5 stars.

Update: After ordering a battery from a different manufacturer and taking a closer look at that battery and my laptop's (dead) original battery, I'm revising my review. I determined that the awkward or at least imperfect fit of the battery is the fault of HP and not replacement batteries. On HP laptops I've had in the past, the batteries snapped much more smoothly into place and simply fit better. I chalk it up to, you guessed it, the constant drive to reduce costs and shorten product life cycles. My laptop is also much more difficult to repair or upgrade than previous models (it would be nice to install an SSD, but I'd probably damage the computer in the process). In any case, the HP mechanism that supposedly locks the battery in place simply feels cheap, so I urge you to be careful when installing and removing these batteries. Also, you may want to be more careful about how you store these batteries. I will write more on these topics below, but first I'll confirm that this battery does work as a replacement battery for the HP laptop model 15-ay091ms. I don't think this model is mentioned specifically in the product listing, but its original battery is labeled "replace with HP spare 087956-001", and I think it's safe to assume that this NinjaBatt battery will work with any laptop whose original battery has this label. Now, more about attaching and removing these batteries: When you flip the closed laptop upside down with the battery towards the back of the laptop (positioned as in my first photo), you will see two latches--a lock latch on the left and a release latch on the right. I have found that the lock latch doesn't really seem to engage with the battery, so that's where the fit is somewhat awkward, at least on my laptop. When a battery is properly installed, both latches are positioned inward in relation to the center of the battery. To remove a battery, slide the lock latch outward (to the left) and then slide the release latch to the right. The battery should pop out easily. When installing a battery, slide the right-hand side in first. It should engage readily with the release latch. Then slide the left-hand side of the battery in and move the lock latch to the inner position to (supposedly) lock the battery in place. All of this may seem obvious, but I'm writing this because HP's user guides seem to cover more different models than ever before, and their battery instructions within these guides seem to show even more models, some of which aren't even models supposedly covered by the guides. If you're not careful you might break the locking or releasing mechanism by following the instructions for the wrong battery. Also, with this model battery it might be easy to assume that both of the latches function in the same way, when they do not.About storing laptop batteries: When I bought my older HP laptops, HP's recommendation was to leave batteries with a 50% charge when storing them unused for a month or longer. I incorrectly assumed that this was still the case. I stored my computer for several months with the battery charged to about 50%. When I took the computer out of storage, I found that the battery was completely unusable. Before the computer even booted up I got a BIOS error message saying that it had detected a battery that was unable to accept a charge. No matter how long I left it connected to power, it indeed would not accept any charge. When I looked at HP's battery recommendations (under "how to" on their support page for my laptop model), I found that their current recommendation is to charge or discharge batteries to 80-90% before storing them, and to check them at least once every three months. They even mention using the BIOS to put batteries in "ship mode" before storing them for long periods. "Ship mode" apparently only applies to business model laptops, which suggests that users--especially of consumer models--now have to be much more careful with their batteries. This is disappointing and a definite notch against HP in my book at a time when manufacturers should be focusing more on environmental sustainability. I was pretty disappointed to find that my original battery was dead after hardly having been used at all, since I had bought my laptop at an irresistible sale price but didn't really need to use it for several months after setting it up and making sure that both the computer and the battery worked as they should. Note that the NinjaBatt Pro instructions that come with this battery say "If you are not going to use your laptop for a long time, discharge or charge the battery to 50% and store it in a cool place." This implies that the replacement battery has different storage recommendations from HP's. In any case, from now on I am going to be more careful about storing lithium batteries. Also, HP instructions in the past have recommended that users calibrate their batteries by completely discharging them. The NinjaBatt instructions say "Do not completely discharge a lithium-ion battery and then recharge it to somehow reboot or calibrate it - this is a destructive practice that's very hard on your battery. Instead, let your battery discharge (without bottoming it) to 20% and then charge it again." Based on my experience, I will go with this recommendation.Thank you to the manufacturer for responding to my original review (below). I appreciate your offer to send me a replacement battery, but that will not be necessary. I hope someone finds these comments helpful at some point.*********************************************I bought a NinjaBatt battery in 2017 and had no issues, so I didn't hesitate to buy their "Pro" battery this time. The battery seems to work, but I have two complaints about it. First, it doesn't fit properly. When holding my computer upside-down with the battery towards the back, the battery does not engage with the retaining mechanism as it should on the left-hand side. Also, the battery is not quite flush with the bottom of the computer when installed; the size is slightly wrong. Second, the battery's bar code sticker has been placed so that it is prominently visible on the top of the battery. This battery is designed in such a way that it is incorporated as a visible bar on the main body of the computer just in front of the screen, which means that the barcode sticker is the first thing I see whenever I look at my computer. It looks terrible. I don't know if it is easily removable, but I don't want to void my warranty by taking it off. I will probably return this battery. I would also like to note that I would NOT recommend that anyone buy a replacement battery directly from HP. HP's prices are extremely high, and the original battery that came with my computer did not last. I left it unused and disconnected from a power source for longer than I should have, but even under those conditions it should not have become completely unable to accept a charge as quickly as it did. I have never had that happen with any other battery, and it made me wonder if HP is now using low-quality batteries or batteries deliberately designed for more frequent replacement. That's just my experience; I have no axe to grind against HP (or NinjaBatt).
