The Gen 2 Spectrum Explained
- Enhanced Violet Spectrum: The violet light spectrum is specially developed for optimal SPS/LPS/Soft coral fluorescent color pop, growth, and health.
- Broader Blue Spectrum: The ideal blue light spectrum, where Chlorophyll absorbs light, is essential for the zooxanthellae within the coral to perform photosynthesis, supplying the coral with energy for growth.
- Rebalanced Red Spectrum: The Gen 2 offers an appropriate red light spectrum, useful for both coral photosynthesis and visual balance.
Wide Spread & Even PAR
The custom designed lens blends the light in such a way that eliminates the hot spot directly beneath the LED cluster. Its wider output angle ensures optimal PAR across a broader range. Additionally, the lens has a frosted finish that enhances light mixing and prevents the disco-ball effect.
The HyperReef Gen 2's optical system features an expanded 120-degree output, up from the 90 degrees in Gen 1, ensuring incredibly even PAR distribution across nearly 3ft of coverage. This results in an extremely high average output, making it ideal for LPS and SPS corals.
Advanced Heat Management
An all-new fan maximizes cooling while minimizing noise. Paired with this fan is a completely redesigned integrated CNC heatsink, which includes multiple channels to ensure unobstructed airflow and micro-fins designed to expand the surface area, allowing for superior heat dispersion.

Absolutely love this light and the colors it produces with my corals. You can custom make programs to adjust light colors to tweak just how you want it and to get the best colors and PAR. The intensity can be changed also. The controller you can add makes creating custom programs a breeze.

I have two of these on our 125g reef tank. It came with the arm to attach to the tank and its sleek and works well. They are sufficient for our softies and light up the tank really well. When we get more corals (lps/sps) we may add a third but for now two work fine for our size tank). The fans make a slight humming noise but not loud enough for it to bother us. Almost sounds like the AC unit is running. We appreciate the ability to adjust the white/blue lights as needed and it has good settings to create a schedule. The only downside is having to buy a separate remote to do all of that AND the remote has to stay plugged in. Not a huge deal, just a little annoying. The light scatter is pretty intense too so I bought light covers off Etsy that were an amazing addition. Highly recommend doing that. Overall, great lights.

I just unpacked 3 of the NICREW HyperReef 150 Gen 2 Reef LED light that I purchase for nearly $1000. This product is terrible. All three of the light fans are extremely loud, and one of them jiggles/wobbles because the fan appears to be off balance. What is worse, there is a 30 day return window for this product, that I just missed, and so now I am out nearly $1000 for these lights. A total scam.

Bought both of these lights along with the controller. Lighting par is dead on and 100% comparable to high end lights and believe these are underpriced. The mounting brackets are high quality look great and overbuilt. Controller is easy to use a 5 year old could program it not to mention the preset “pro 1” setting spectrum and timing is absolutely perfect. Would definitely buy again.

I put this light on my 49 gallon round tank and it is fantastic! It reaches every inch of the tank and is so beautiful! I can not more highly recommend it great product !

These lights are far better than the gen 1. Two big issues, one is the fact that the controller is sold separately so without that the lights have very little functionality. The second and more pressing is that the cooling fan is far too loud and honestly unacceptable.

what an upgrade and improvement from Gen 1. so pleased Nicrew! the mount, to start, is much thicker and stronger. no more leaning of the light. Plus it actually fits on a normal rimmed tank (the gen 1 mount did not unless you cut the side of the rim!) Here are some side by side photos with my gen 1 150W nicrew and the gen 2 200w nicrew. I only ran my mixed reef at like 30% on the gen 1s. so I am probably only going to run these new bad boys at like 20%, to start at least. They are BRIGHT. 100% would fry the entire tank for certain! :) I have no complaints at all and recommend these whole heartedly. On sale, I got mine at $320. Which is 3 of these for less than ONE radion pro. You can't beat that. Also, gen 1 was only blue and white channels that you could control. Now you can control 5 channels. the spread is much better too (see the photo of the gen 2 spread on the right vs the gen 1 on the left!) Nicrew is killing it. I wish I could afford all neptune and ecotech, but for those of who can't, I am happy with my Jebao pumps and my nicrew lights. I would recommend that all day long. As soon as they release the Multi-Light Arm Kit I am going to get that and hang 3 of these over my 125g reef.

These are definitely a step up from the previous generation! I have the gen 1's on my 120 gallon and have been happy overall with those. I wanted to try thes out on my 200gallon tank. Hardly any shaded areas with the new frosted lenses. I had great par readings and the color of my corals pop much better that they did with my ReefBreeder photons. The only complaint is the fan is a little loud, but it doesn't bother me too much.
