If you buy your mother a camera make sure it takes AA batteries. Once every six months my mother feels bad for never using her camera. She digs it out and the rechargeable batteries are nowhere to be found. I order her another one, but she moves on to some other hobby, and I wait another six months….

After making the mistake of leaving one of my camera batteries in the camera for an extended period of time, and finding it unable to hold a charge as a result...and knowing that I had an upcoming trip where I hate being without a backup battery in remote areas...I needed replacements. Not only did these batteries perform just as well (if not better) than the Canon-brand batteries I already had, but they cost much less. And the included charger is very versatile--you can either put a battery in and plug the flip-out plug directly into the wall (and charge up incredibly quickly), but you can also do the same in your car with the included car charger cord. On a driving trip with limited access to wall chargers, this was especially handy for me. Well worth the price, and an excellent product. I got to test them out immediately after receiving them, and they work perfectly!

They charge up and work but certainly don't last as long as the oem batteries. I was trying to get out cheap due to current budget issues so got these to take on my last trip. I use my camera underwater and obviously, it the battery goes, you can't just stop and swap it out so I need something that will last the duration. And as is always the case, when the battery dies, that is when I see the most incredible and rare creature. Fresh oem batteries will last for two 60 minute dives where the camera stays on the entire time but even these will get to the point of lasting only one dive and eventually not even that. These batteries died early into the second dive so I had to revert to changing batteries in between every dive. Kind of a pain since you have to take your gear out of the fresh water soak tank, dry it off completely to open it and remove the camera then set it back up and let everything acclimate so as to not get condensation inside the underwater housing.So bottom line, they do work they just don't last as long between charges. The auto adapter with the charger is a nice feature. They do charge in about the same time as oem batt's. Would I buy again? Depends on my needs at the time vs. my budget I guess.
